It isn't. just decodes with phasey mushy rears,, like any stereo recording would

such a shame..

I wonder why there'd be SQ stickers plastered on these things when they don't decode in SQ after all..!?

it's not as if these are of the ilk of those counterfeit discs from the Far East purporting to be SACD (complete with myriad stickers!) these are genuine releases from Sony Japan.

it just doesn't add up..!?

I'm wondering too.. I'm almost tempted to get a few of these myself, mainly for fits and giggles!

It could be from the SQ masters, but subsequent remastering has likely destroyed the delicate phase information.
This wouldn't be a problem for stereo playback, and they are likely trying to capitalize on the "quad mix" trend.
Keep in mind that we are still the lunatic fringe in the audio world. I am OK with that though.

More likely either a mistake, or the SQ mix was supposed to be used but the stereo was supplied. We could go on for ever, pretty pointless really. just another wasted oppertunity

Let's hope it was a mistake on the EWF title, although anything is possible. Would like to see Sony release SQ, or actual Quadraphonic 4 channel masters, if stuff still exists.

We did get not long ago: Bloomfield/Kooper/Stills "Super Sessions" from Japan in SQ on CD. Time will tell if more releases are to come and are SQ.

Carly Simon on DVD-A. Frank Zappa DVD-A and Crosby & Nash: Another Stoney Evening are up next! My first post aqnd glad I found the forum.

Lynyrd Skynyrd-"Southern Surroundings" DVD-A (courtesy of a cousin who lives in the US)...great mix and although not my REAL cup of tea, it's highly enjoyable....
count me in to the QQers who don't understand how this was released only in Walmart...and mixed by ES!!!! WTF???

Tony Banks-"A curious feeling" DTS 96/24...a bit of a downer , but it has its Genesis moments...

Donald Fagen-"Morph the Cat" DTS 96/24....Donnie baby...

Eagles/Hell Freezes Over/DTS/5.1
Great mix; Seven Bridges Road is a wonderful demo surround track

We mean (tongue-in-cheek):

I think you mean "Gaucho" by Steely Dan. Groucho is an entirely different discussion...... !

Listening to the Mudvayne DD for the first time. I got into the album in the last two weeks as a great album to listen to when I do cardio. I'll be posting a review soon.
