Queen - Greatest video hits DVD-V
GREAT MIXES!!!!!
(and Roger Taylor looks VERY disturbing as a girl in "I want to break free"!!!!)

Quadrophenia - The 'Oo (Half a DVD-A).

Listening to this for the first time in ages.. surround mix has many great moments.. if only they'd done the whole bloody thing.. a masterpiece double album isn't meant to be chopped up and spat back out as an EP missing so much that made it so wonderful in the first place!! yes, many big numbers are there but no Bell Boy!? No Cut My Hair!? Come onnnnn...!!@:

ps. partial redemption comes in things like Moonie's insanely stunning-sounding workout in Doctor Jimmy! ah, dear boy.. you never sounded so good til you were 5.1 DVD-A'd! (y)

If you can play region A Blurays then get the Criterion Quadrophenia and you'll get Bell Boy and Cut My Hair in their full discrete glory :smokin

I think my highlighting of this got missed on the forum - it's worth a look at the breakdown of the other tracks too.

I saw your superb detailed comments on the Criterion BD (I have a spare little BDP I got for about 50 quid in Tesco's of all places, that plays all BD regions with a remote hack, not that it gets much use!) and thanks to your info its on my (ridiculously long) shopping list! (y)

For umpteenth time ,
King Crimson- LTIA DVD-A (lots o' stuff I've never noticed before!!!)

(happy birthday to me!!!! :smokin )

Blue Oyster Cult - Secret Treaties -> SQ Vinyl Rip -> SQ*Final -> DVD-A

My first full album that I've converted using SQ Final....

Just giving Magenta's "The 27 Club" 5.1 mix another spin to see if it's as good as I remember it was from the play testing and I'm happy to report that it is! Some of Rob's best song writing, keyboard playing and mixing backed up by equally exceptional performances by Chris Fry on guitar and Christina Booth on vocals. Pretty sure this is Magenta's best to date.

DJ Play My Blues (Buddy Guy). Some great blues on this one. Love the slow stuff like "Dedication to the Late T Bone Walker" and "Blues at My Baby's House". That slow bass is a killer. I don't listen to a lot of blues but "The Garbage Man Blues" has to be some of the strangest song content I've ever heard. All-in-all, a well-produced album by JSP Records as is their 5.1 release of Guitar Shorty: My way or the Highway. Both are great surround productions.

Thanks for the great summation - and the reminder! I've both the Buddy Guy & Guitar Shorty SACDs and I haven't played either for a while - but you're bang on they are great surround, I'd even go so far as to say they are both spectacular! Some of the most "alive" recordings I've ever heard! Chock-full of presence, it's like you're there!

I've also got a JSP Blues SACD of Byther Smith which isn't so exhilarating as an album but mixwise and sound quality's as good as the Buddy Guy & Guitar Shorty.

Quad Linda was saying she's seen Guitar Shorty live and he's quite the acrobat on stage!

A sampler from Myutopia Kabel

VA-Pixelated Pulse

Some downbeat or drum and bass stuft not Bad but also not everbody cup of tea

how's the surround mix, AB?

Myutopia's 5.1 mixes are usually quite good (Josh One "Narrow Path", Yellow Note "We Love Everybody, You're Next") but they have their moments of mediocrity, "Half Baked Goods" by DJ Haul & Mason is particularly poor.

Mix is very good....not very agressive but discrete.

Propaganda - Secret Wish (MCH SACD)
