I'm watching/listening to the original Japanese Pioneer Artists LaserDisc release of Olivia Newton-John's Physical. I'm using the MSB LS-1 Dolby AC-3 Prototype LaserDisc player and the Tate 101A in the Surround mode with a Circle Surround decoder connected to the front L/R Fosgate outputs to create a center channel - it works superbly - you would never know the Fosgate wasn't creating the CF signal itself.
BTW, here's the prototype player built/designed by MSB for Pioneer and Dolby to output the Dolby Digital signal on LaserDisc's

its remote is brass and quite haavy.

its internal video circuitry mods are the same as the THX Runco LJR-II Super LaserDisc Player and the three players made were hand built as you can see and hand aligned to THX specs. Dolby got a player, Pioneer got one and Mark Brasfield of MSB kept one, which is the one I got.

now I need the Involve SQ decoder to review on my website - I think a review on my site would sell some units considering there are SQ LaserDisc's and surround synthesis is so wonderful. I hope Involve will let me put a link to their site on my LaserVision Landmarks website. - quad started the home theater sound revolution and the involve decoder is a new Landmark product.

Beautiful piece of machinery (I was talkin' 'bout Olivia...:smokin)
My Pioneer LD player has an RF demod out, which even though I have a Pioneer receiver, it doesn't have that feature...also, its remote is the BEST one of the bunch with a huge "Jog & Shuttle" wheel...

Listening to now, in surround: Quad mix of "Wish You Were Here" from the Immersion Blu-ray. Bought it for $50 on ebay without all the marbles and stuff. It's a wonderful time to be a music fan.

Mike Oldfield - Crises - (in the car)

The siren effect got me when it came on. I really thought a police car or ambulance was behind me. :steering::yikes

WOW! :yikes

Ohhh my.. the surround mix is absolutely incredible on this!

there's HEAPS of atmosphere! "jungle"/African effects galore in the rears (crickets chirping, thunder cracks, the lot!) and her vocals in the centre are just out of this world, with some AMAZINGLY effective reverb in the rears in the spoken word passages.. the rears are hard at work on this one the whole time -- WHAT A MIX!!!! just WOW!!

haunting and engaging, daring, challenging, storytelling, hypnotic, rhythmic, beautiful.. absolutely stunning surround music.

You have got to hear this one guys.

I'm thrilled I took the risk - this is a seriously overlooked hidden gem of a surround music SACD that can still be found new for real-world money just about everywhere as you can see in the links I posted above to Amazon USA, Amazon UK, etc..

There are some interesting independent artists with Surround Sound SACDs on the CD Baby web site. Do a search on CD Baby for "SACD" as the keyword to find the others.

Into The Heart Of The Sangoma - Ann Mortifee (Hybrid MultiChannel SACD) is an example of a well done, but obscure Surround SACD, that you'll find on CD Baby. Enjoy !

ah looks cool, thx! (y) The Amazons may be a more familiar/friendly route to go, I dunno!? anyhoo, Amazon UK's where I got this Ann Mortifee.. and its obscure alright but spectacular!

Hi folks,
Styx, Equinox (1975)
Pink Floyd: Dark Side On The Moon ( One of the greatest LP's in Quad) IMHO :)
Blue öyster Cult Secret Treaties
Eric Carmen - Eric Carman (1st Album) Some people say it's the best album that the Beach Boys never made.
2 Hrs of practice bass tonight as well...wooo hooo!

"I'm Just a Bass Player"

Keane, "Hopes and Fears", SACD (I have the dual disc with MLP, but got lucky and found a new, shrink-wrapped SACD at a brick-and-mortar for list price just a couple years ago).

I know the surround mix is mostly ambient (not completely, there are discrete parts), and the whole mix is brickwalled, but the melodies are haunting and take me to a melancholy time and place that I am thankfully not part of anymore... but isn't it odd how the memory feels better than the reality did?

great job on finding the SACD @list price! woo!
I've both versions too & for reasons I can't explain prefer the SACD! maybe cos it cost me 4 times' as much!? ha!@:

funny, talking about moods & memory, I was listening to the Lynyrd Skynyrd DVD-A last night (which you kindly got me and sent over to Blighty, for which I'm eternally thankful) and was reminded of your kind gesture back then, brought a smile to my face, the goodness of people and how great this forum is. yet the previous time I played that DVD-A, I felt overwhelmingly sad & low thinking about Van Zant & Gaines' tragic deaths in the plane crash, I've no idea why but it put a dampener on the whole experience to put it mildly! yet last night, it was all good positive upbeat vibes induced by the very same music and the kindness of people!

First,
Genesis- Trespass- DVD-V DTS 96/24 PAL version...you know, Ant was really good!

This album has an emotional connection for me too, but probably not as traumatic. I'm dying to hear it in 5.1, SACD or otherwise. Sadly, I've not been as fortunate to find it at a sensible price :(

Foreigner : Mr. Moonlight Been sometime since I listen to this album..alas the last album to feature Lou Gramm. Also, missing from this album Rick Wills and Dennis Elliott. Still a good Foreigner Album. :)
