Got the Bjork Surrounded Box Set in the mail yesterday. Stayed up late listening to it and have another disc in right now. Bjork has always been one of those artist I have to be in the mood for but all I can say right now is brilliant. Like has been already noted many times, even though "only" DTS 5.1 the sound is excellent on my modest system. She really is in a world of her own isn't she? One difference in surround philosophy from many is the fact that her vocals seem to pretty much be evenly spread throughout the channels not center channel focused like so many other mixes. But that does work for her music I think since her voice is really just another instrument in most of her songs. I already have several of her albums in stereo but without a doubt they are whole new experiences and just seem more natural in sound.

FYI - Just in case you didn't know - Vespertine and Medulla are also available on DVD-A.

XTC - Nonsvch DVD-A

This is a really great sounding mix...and it was originally a 48/16 Digital recording?...wow...

preceding it was
Jethro Tull -Benefit DVD-V...an interesting album with what was to become the Tull we know and love...

I've mentioned this one before but can't help mentioning it again. Nakai, Fourth World DTS is what I am listening to now. It's an outstanding surround sound experience of Native American Flute with the richness of symphonic strings, oboe, French horns, trumpet and ethnic percussion. Very discreet sound and a joy to listen to on a cold December morning.

OK, so sue me...I'm a Rush fan boy...of their MCH releases I think that the only REAL SHTINKAH is S&A....

As for the rest, they might not be ES or SW standard , but they are not that bad....

Listening now to one of my faves..
SIGNALS

BTW, love the Lyrics slideshow with the same font as in the sleeve...YEAH BABY!!!

The Vicar -Songbook #1..this time in DTS 48/24

Brilliant stuff.
Beautifully played and mixed.
Love the lyrics slideshow too....

Roxy Music - Avalon
Chicago II
Queen Greatest hits 1 & 2 in DVD DTS 5.1....altho it close to quad, but still fine
Beatles - Love
Crowded House
XTC Nonsuch

andddddddddddddddd so many more to get tooooooooooo :51banana:

After not playing records for several months I'm pulling out the quad vinyl for a spin. Currently listening to Eric Carmen. Not certain I've ever even listened to this album all the way through. Still marvel at finally being able to properly playback quad records after having a system since 1974. Never had any luck back than and abandoned the idea for decades, focusing instead on discrete tape recordings. In the past year I finally got one of the recommended Audio Technica cartridges and combined with my vintage Technics SL1200 turntable and the Marantz CD 400, now I can finally play vinyl. Having a little listening fest this evening. :)

Eric Carmen  Loved his Solo work and his raspberries stuff...........his first self titled Album is on my all time faves list. If that is the one ur listening to in Quad............Snood is very jealous. :p

Deep Purple-Machine Head SACD (thinking of getting an Aussie SQ LP pressing-where they any good?)

Elton John -Madman Across the Water

Elton John 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' SACD.

Worthy superlatives evade me. This is perfect in almost every way. Exquisite songsmithery, superb production, delightful 5.1 mix, tremendous package.

Again,

Yes- CTTE... BD...hmmm, this is a bit disappointing...thought that after repeated listenings, I'd like it more , but I can only reiterate what I said originally...apart from the separation and a few "uncovered" things, it's really nothing to write home about... THe XTC is way more adventurous mixwise...maybe Steven was walking with way more trepidation on this one and pulled some punches...still , sounds great---

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers-DTT BD...this one really shines...not that great of a mix, but the sound!!! and the (Max) Headroom!!!

Selections from Yes - CTTE, XTC - Nonsuch, Primus - Sailing The Seas Of Cheese, The Vicar - Songbook, Steven Wilson - The Raven. All while I munch on a mincepie whilst working from home!

It's Funky Friday here in the NW corner of Ct - and I've fired up 2 DTS-CD classics, "Fire" and "Honey" by Ohio Players. Serious funk and a great aggressive 5.1 mix. Horns and drums in particular, shine!
