Blackfield - IV (DVD-A)

Deitra Farr - Let It Go! 5.1 SACD great blues, like the mix.

Eric Clapton - Give Me Strength Blu-ray, love the Elliot Scheiner mix, but my Denon produces so much vibration with the disc it intrudes. Half the Blu-ray discs I have cause vibrations which are so loud they ruin the music. Looks like I'll have to buy a new player, really annoying :howl

First listen here to Eric Clapton - 461 Ocean Blvd from Give Me Strength boxset.
As always I love Scheiner's mix.
He is the master in basssound mixing.
Warm but not muddy (yes it is from the mid 70s, so a little mud is there).
And as I love 70s sound more than any other decades it is a 10!
But I will listen first to the other mixes bedore I vote in the end.

They also did Nashville Skyline and Planet Waves on 2ch SACD. Both albums had been released in Quad in the day. I have them on SQ and CD-4 respectively. Planet Waves was originally released on Asylum, which was pressed by WEA.

Shame they didn't release Desire in surround (Quad is fine) when they released all those Dylan SACDs!

I used the Heathkit EV-4 decoder last night for some EV-4 LP listening.

4 Channel Music Sampler

Bonnie Koloc After All This Time

Beaver & Krause Gandharva

The Beach Boys Surf's Up

I must say it was a pleasurable listening session. I still think that EV-4 is quite underrated. Good seperation and mixes on all the above. The Beach Boys title is mixed exceptionally well.

You have a surround master right?

Have you tried EV-4 albums through that?

Yes.

Actually no cause I wanted to make a big project of the comparison. I will though.

Strange Beautiful Music - Joe Satriani (M/C SACD).

This still rocks my bollocks off all these years later! Easily one of the best Surround SACDs of "new" stuff Sony knocked out back in the day. Everything about it is exemplary.
