Rhino pulled the same shit with the Stone Temple Pilots CORE ..... they downrezed the MLP DVD~A 5.1 to DD 5.1 for the remastered set. The question is WHY?

They didn’t “downrez” anything. They just grabbed the standard DVD layer that was created for the DVD-A release years ago and reissued it. As for why, it’s very simple: Warner does not support the DVD-A format anymore. Clearly they feel that it’s no longer a viable release format.

Lossy or lossless, I just never really cared for the surround mix on this one.

Oh, man! I wanna bust out the BR of Red from The Road to Red boxset, but it's way too late for the volume I desire, so I put some Hiromi on instead; her subtle stylings, transcendent technique, and carefully crafted compositions (all originals on this release) don't require nearly as much volume . . . and there is some red on the cover!

Finally got my old Boston Acoustics rear speakers hooked up in the office (for the SMv2); and with the passing of Leon Redbone:cry:, this is the first thing I pulled out to try on the old 4.0 system - music seemed appropriate to Leon somehow:
A conversion Q8 - sounds great.

JP, I have this album on Angel Vinyl. Is the Q8 conversion at all discrete? Would make a great QUAD SACD title, IMO.

JP, I have this album on Angel SQ Vinyl but was never able to properly decode it. Is the Q8 conversion at all discrete? Would make a great QUAD SACD title, IMO.
It seemed to be, however it was my first time hearing it and I was working on cleaning up the office and wasn’t closely listening for evaluation. Might just make a great D-V release and I loved the music!

Thanks for the reply. BTW, I thought my Vinyl edition was SQ but The Red Back Book was ONLY released as a Q8. How memories fade with time...........

Unfortunately, Warners now owns all those Capitol/EMI/Angel Classical masters so doubtful D~V would have dibs to this title!

I’ll definitely be listening to this one again soon, and just happy to hear it because we may never see this out in the wild (new) again.

When I search "mccartney multichannel" on Discogs, this does NOT show up--I would NOT have known about this release were it not for Quadraphonicquad! And now I'm soaking in it! Thank you, QQ, for all you do. Peace
