there's been so many surround music releases of non-Quad material over the last 20 years or so across so many formats,

That's the problem! Even if it concentrated on rock etc, hunting down everything would take SO long! And knowing it would be out of date before I'd even finished proof reading.... I updated my Bowie price guide at the end of 2018, thinking it would at least be "finished" for a while, and it's already two 45s, two box sets and an upcoming LP behind. And that's just one artist!

I'm already enjoying it! Plus, it's great to know there's so many other quad fans around. Usually when I mention it, people just smile, shake their heads and hand me the copy of "Snowflakes Are Dancing" that they found for $1 in the charity store. I mention quad 8-Tracks and they run for the hills.

oh, hell YES!

Listening now to my final (THRAK) King Crimson, 11 total. Man, that was some serious 5.1 the last two weeks. I will need to do a random listen again and do my voting on the polls. I will say this, they are all 10's in surround, just the music can be listenable or not. I think I like the later stuff. Collectively if you added all 11 albums tracks, there is some weird music. I have listened and saw Steven Wilson live at The Warfield in San Francisco and there is no doubt that of all is influences King Crimson is his greatest.
I am happy to have gone on this musical journey with King Crimson. Did KC really grab and convert me, no, I don't think so, but I don't want to dismiss the band entirely, obviously if a person growing up with KC would have a better fondness than I. By the way, THRAK is one of the better, for me.

Markie, it was a journey well taken ...... and at least KC's remix/remasters were consistent and savored in OUR favorite format: MLP DVD~A 5.1.

BTW, two more to go with The Power to Believe and The Reconstrukction of Light forthcoming.

Yes, those are on pre order, couldn't agree more, that MLP DVD-A 5.1 is just the best.
I looked into the LIVE discs of KC and man oh man, there are a ton, I just can't go there right now.

I recently bought and [tried to] watch the BD~V of KC's Meltdown in Mexico and even though I'm a fan [not rabid, however] I found the video to be numbing ....... camera work was way too static and I just couldn't watch the entire concert.

I think you've covered enough KC bases, Markie ......... Onward to your next multichannel journey...wherever it might lead!

I’ve only been on the beginning of the journey (Court) and the end (Thrak). I like ‘em both, but they might as well be different bands - sort of like Marillion’s Clutching compared to Brave. Thrak is a hell of a mix with the different drum kits split front and rear.

From what I understand, there are numerous reinventions of KC with totally different lineups and musical styles. Been dragging my feet on picking up more from that series - any you feel stood above the others? It’s surprisingly difficult to find and audition them online.

Read post 129 from Marplot really good info, Snoods Question on QQ

So whats the verdict?.
No contest to these ears: SW 2015 all the way--a much more immersive and distinct experience. And if it were not the Wilson mix, the 2002 mix is a feature on the Bluray! I picked up the SACD for >$20 when I was in Tokyo two years ago. The obi strip is cool, but even that doesn't beat the extras in the Bluray package. I did enjoy listening to them both this morning. Way cool to see how far things have come, what can be done in a mix. Thanks for asking! Peace
