The Moody Blues - In Search Of The Lost Chord (DVD)

Different speaker setup since I’ve last listened. I’m listening to the AC-3 Surround track and it sounds better on my active monitors than on my last passive speaker setup. I was going to vote a 4 with that last setup but now, it looks more like a 7, possibly an 8.

Had hastily set up my new 5.2.4 Atmos / Auro system the weekend before some major surgery last Monday, and have spent the week convalescing in a lounger (in fact, sleeping in it) in the sweet spot, having plenty of time to tweak the system and revisit the R.E.M. / INXS Atmos, as well as some earlier box sets (finally reading some of the texts!).

Tonight I tried IN SEARCH OF THE LOST CHORD in Dolby Surround, Dolby Digital (the best), and Auro 3D: wow! A completely different experience. With my 7.2 I had been concentrating on the discreteness of the instruments, but the real show here is the discrete vocals in the front and rear height speakers! DTS with Neural:X is rather clearer, but again (as with the 7.2) I prefer the Dolby (!). Wish I had listened to this earlier when I was still on the pain meds, lol. I do believe the person who mixed this surround had the newer setups in mind.

I am again reminded how much I love this album 😊
