Depeche Mode - Songs for the Masses
SACD DSD 5.1 EU Import

Probably my favorite DM album. I never understood why these Deluxe reissues are missing tracks, such as Strangelove (extended mix). It’s time to re-do them with all the extended mixes, B’ sides, etc, on Blu-ray. Plus, offer them both, in a Deluxe Box Set and individually. :)

Weather Report - Take Spinnin’; SACD 4.0

After participating in the Bruce Botnick/Doors discussion earlier tonight, which touched on Bruce’s excellent surround mix on this release, I had to give it a listen. This is simply fantastic in all ways. It features a beautiful, very open and full sound and a ridiculously good, discrete mix. Are the other Weather Report surround titles out there this damn good?

Unfortunately, there's only one other surround release from them: the quad mix of Mysterious Traveller, which was released as a Sony SACD 15+ years ago and commands high prices nowadays. Tim Geelan did the quad mix on that one - he's responsible for several other excellent CBS quads including the two Blue Oyster Cult's and the Mahavishnu Orchestra's Between Nothingness & Eternity Live. It's been a while since I spun it, but I recall it being not as strong mix/fidelity/content-wise in comparison to Tale Spinnin'. Definitely worth tracking down if you're into the material. Poll thread here.

I've got the Mysterious Traveller also, and concur, thought it could use some cleaning up via better mastering, you know like M.J.D. quality!
