I do remember this was definitely the first Tull album I ever bought. Listening now in 5.1. Wow, this is a $174.00 now on Amazon, I certainly didn't pay that much.

Went back and listened to choice tracks from all the Barclays James Harvest discs last night... maybe I was just in the wrong mood, but the only album I really still enjoyed was Octoberon. I’m not really sure why I bought them all, lol!

Edouard Batiste - a remarkable double SACD of organ music ranging from quiet and soothing to thunderously loud. My neighbours are out, so I took advantage and whacked the volume up.

I really like the album. A couple of Nicks' songs are on the weak side but she has several really good tunes on there as well. The Buckingham tunes are uniformly excellent. John and Mick are playing very well on it. The same lineup released an EP ten years later (simply called Extended Play) that was sadly completely overlooked. It didn't have a physical release (and no surround mix ) but the songs are worth searching out.

The mix has nothing wrong, at the time it was released Andy Jackson was still a regular visitor and took the time to explain his vision for this one: recreating a kind of horse shoe shape for the sound while respecting the limitations of the source (it's just bass and drums, plus guitar and keys, no overdubs).
However, something went wrong, really wrong either with the mastering (or maybe the master tapes handed over to Andy were damaged). There are fragments that are so distorted that are hardly listenable, like in Set the Controls and Saucerful. I played it once and it's been shelved since then. Andy never acknowledged these issues, though. Weird.
