So that's the CD with Dolby Digital yes? this one: Tomita - Kosmos what do you play it with? I'm sure I've got Dolby Digital CDs and all I get out of them is stereo, they are available fairly cheaply, not that I'm a huge fan of Kosmos (I have it on vinyl) but if I could play it in surround I may get it.

Yes that is the correct disk. I play this Dolby Surround disk with my Oppo 205 connected to my Marantz SR8012. The oppo is sending bitstream audio through HDMI to the amp. I must set the audio mode of the amp to Dolby Surround and then I get the surround output. I'm sure that it is the same for your oppo/denon. I really enjoy Tomita's music in surround so I had to get this one as well...even if it was just Dolby Surround vs SACD.

I dug out my Allsop SoundPro Laser Lens Cleaner test disc that has Dolby Surround Pro-Logic and tried it out as you said, in my Oppo set to Bitstream and the amp on Dolby and Hey Presto it worked! the first time ever that I have heard it in surround, amazing.

Yea I was (in the back of my mind) aware of this, but this Dolby Digital CD intrigues me so I've ordered one from a UK seller for just £5 plus postage, so a bargain really.

I've the Dolby Surround CD of "Snowflakes Are Dancing", which I first played through a (cheap!) Maplin Electronics Dolby Decoder, then years later got my first Surround Amp and the difference was noticeable, then I got the Quad SACD which was definitely better.

I have that disk on order.... I didn't realize that it was almost the same disk. It appears to have most of the same tracks and adds a few Bermuda Triangle which is very cool!
