Just arrived yesterday. Pleasant enough, gauzy chilltronica. A lot of content on the Blu Ray (this is the single CD/BD edition). There are 5 tracks “live in the studio” with an orchestra and small audience with video in 5.1 DTS HD MA and the full album ( audio only) in Dolby Atmos/Dolby Tru HD 7.1/5.1. The mix has an enveloping/washing over you quality - appropriate for the music.

thanks for the info., its been on the shopping list a while. would you say there are discrete things going on in individual channels, or is it more an ambient type of a sensation?

There are definitely discrete elements going on. However, the overall effect is more of an ambient wash. Hard to describe but everything seems slightly muted - hence my “gauzy” description. It is very pleasant but won’t rock your world.

Peter Frampton Live In Detroit Blu ray

For the unknowing fan...Peter is such a great guitarist. I really enjoy watching him play. Oh, and he was my first "rock" concert back in the mid 70's. That single concert totally changed me and I fell in love with music, concerts, etc.

Another new Erich Kunzel classical disk...fingers crossed!

Erich Kunzel, Cincinnati Pops Orchestra ‎– Tchaikovsky 1812 Overture

Ok, I just saved this posting until I'd heard several tracks... another 5.1 classical disk that barely uses the rear speakers. I compared the 5.1 to the stereo tracks and yes there is a difference. The 5.1 has a larger room feel and on brief occasions, I thought I heard parts coming from the rear as well as the front speakers. I tried turning the amps mode to Multi In + Neural:X to give me more in the surrounds but it didn't really help. And another disappointing thing, what's up with the "cannons" on 1812?! I was so hoping for startling loud fun cannons, but we got weird sounding pop/bangs... really disappointing. Hell, the booming bass drums are louder during this track!. I have now gone online and checked out some reviews of this disk and I see I'm not alone in my criticism of this recording/performance... another just ok disk headed to the bottom shelf....

I was a band geek in school and played in our school bands for 8 years. Later in college, I sang in our chorus and performed with the Macon and Columbus Symphonies. Being on stage within a large group, surrounded by music is a wonderful experience that I miss. I really have no interest in listening to classical music "from the audiences" perspective. If I buy a 5.1 surround disk .... I want to be surrounded by the music, not sitting here wondering if the rear speakers have any content.

If anyone knows of any good SURROUND recordings of classical orchestras, please let me know.
