Hows the surround?.
I like it. There is often sound coming from the rear speakers. Sometimes it sounds like an extended stereo mix wrapping around you, other times you have sounds that are mixed to front and back speakers with unique parts mixed to the front. Not a lot of discrete sounds coming from the rears. The power and low end is wonderful at times. They put six effects tracks throughout the disk that make full use of the surround speakers.
Here's page 5 from the disk insert.

I didn't ever get concerned that I was about to damage my speakers, but they did fly a helicopter around my room along with the other effects

always heartwarming to see someone really know what they are talking about when they're referring to surround sound in their liner notes 👍

Another delightful [as Clem would call it] Danish Pastry from the DACAPO Label [Multi~Ch SACD] BTW, it WAS awarded GRAMOPHONE CD OF THE MONTH [in case you're wondering].

This is wonderful stuff. Don't be put off by the extreme pretentiousness of one reviewer: the playing here is top-notch and the conducting at least that good. Far and away the best recording of the great Helios overture on record (bravo horns!). Sound in SACD is fabulous, especially the violin tone, which is gorgeous. A couple of must-have rarities make this essential buying!

EDIT: Upon first SPIN: Ethereal and Haunting with prodigious amounts of bass and fredblue discrete 'chic' {fDc} ... just the way I like it!
