Sadly, no. It's probably the worst surround mix I have on DVD-audio - Randy Newman's voice is completely buried in the instrumentation.

I'd agree that they could've done a better job integrating Randy's vocals in the 5.1 mix--he's solo'd in the center speaker with just some faint reverb hitting off the other channels. The issue isn't so much that he's too low in volume, but his voice seems 'small' against the huge soundscape created by the other channels. Letting that center vocal diffuse slightly into the other speakers (as was done on the Dire Straits and Elton John 5.1's) goes a long way in making things seem more cohesive, IMO.

Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Rage Hard: the Sonic Collection

I'd have preferred surround sound versions of both of their albums rather than this compilation, but efb18 say oh well.

The quality of the surround mixes varies incredibly though, from the great (full album version of "Welcome to the Pleasuredome") to the WTF ("Rage Hard").

Oh dear Oh dear oh dear, I'm not feeling this at all, I know the album having owned it on vinyl since it was released (1976), I was expecting much more, It seems to lack punch in places I thought it would have it, but no, it's so lacklustre, comparing it to the Al Stewart I just listened to. I have turned up the rears but there's not much there. My advice is stay away. 5.1 DTS 96/24 DVD.
