Ahh yes, this is so nice !

This is SO good... beautifully played and recorded, and I mostly just sat and enjoyed it without getting too nitpicky about the mix but lots of discrete percussion in the rears... just a fantastic experience.

Yeah, it's a quality title. If I recall, I got mine off Amazon several years ago and paid around $10 for it.

David Benoit AMERICAN LANDSCAPE [GRP RECORDS/DTS Entertainment/DTS 5.1] Some tasty smooth Jazz from GRP Recording Artist David Benoit with guests Poncho Sanchez, Bela Fleck, Nathan East and the London Symphony Orchestra. Ambient Surrounds but audiophile all the way!

Oh dear Oh dear oh dear, I'm not feeling this at all, I know the album having owned it on vinyl since it was released (1976), I was expecting much more, It seems to lack punch in places I thought it would have it, but no, it's so lacklustre, comparing it to the Al Stewart I just listened to. I have turned up the rears but there's not much there. My advice is stay away. 5.1 DTS 96/24 DVD.

I bought the album in high school (81-84). Used vinyl if I remember correctly. I never connected with it.

(broken record alert)

...and who did the 5.1 mix on this one?

Jean Martinon ~ The French National Radio Orchestra: The Orchestral Music of Debussy ~ Volume IV: La Mer/Nocturnes [EMI/DTS Entertainment] I'm guessing this was an original EMI/ANGEL QUAD remixed into 5.1 but the sonics are superb [5.1 Mastering: Robert Margouleff]

There were two LP EMI Quad box sets from around 1975 from Martinon, a Debussy, and a Ravel Orchestral Works. These discs are from those sets, both are knockouts. I've been after all of them, and I think they are slightly hard to find, might be smaller runs than the pop / rock titles from DTS. There is a Ravel DVD-V-A of a section of the box set which I have had my eye one. It's gone rare and pricey.
