A fascinating album from an interesting character who has been enveloped in the world of Pink Floyd for much of his career.
Ok I'll bite, just ordered a new copy off ebay for 12.50 shipped.
Got the discs in yesterday and been listening to it quite a bit over the last 24.
Yes the mix is amazing with the performers in a 3D space around the whole room, one of the best I've heard.
OTOH I'm not much of a fan of the music at this point but I'll give it some time and a few more plays, maybe it will grow on me. ;)

I bought this long time ago. Nine full albums with extra tunes and a bonus dvd with some really awesome surround mixes. And you can crank it. Got it at a record show for $20.

tbh i found the surround tracks to be all underwhelming upmixes and was quite disappointed but i'm sincerely glad you're enjoying it, musically superb, always liked his solo work i felt his oeuvre deserved better treatment (y)

You must have paid $10 for yours. lol I noticed that the drums, bass and lead vocals were generally in front. The guitars, synths and backing vocals were all around. String sections had nice separation. I do agree that a few could have been up mixed, especially the live tunes. Overall it sounds great and the videos are fun.
I somewhat agree to somewhat disagree.

i wish..! :D i passed on it when i saw it cheap a couple of times and then had to fork out when i bizarrely "wanted it so bad!" all of a sudden.. :SB there are many things right with the set, the 5.1 just didn't do it for me at all unfortunately ☺

Depeche Mode – Ultra
SACD 5.1 multichannel mix

"Producer Tim Simenon was a great choice for Ultra. He had mastered an immaculate, mid-tempo trip-hop sound.
Ultra is full of thick, meditative grooves. The stripped-back, more modest approach suited the band's situation nearly perfectly.
Depeche Mode sound very dark and twisted on Ultra. Moments when they fully embrace how sick and demented their sound has gotten come off the best"
