Lute its good, mellow. Got some great musicians on it. Quad kitty: I can see why no one would get it.

I'm off work for a couple of weeks and staying in town. This gives me the rare opportunity to go through the collection properly, many for the first time with a sub. First up: Aerosmith Toys in the Attic SACD

My wife just got back from the store and said our little girl of two and half years really likes Tom Petty (Wildflowers CD), so we're on to the Damn the Torpedoes Blu: Screen shot 2015-03-21 at 3.12.19 PM.png

Now that is cool......why didn't my older brothers get into quad? Squares......
Glad mine did. I have fond memories of shopping with him for Quad LPs and 8-tracks. But, he would get so pissed off when he would come home and find I had been listening while he was out. LOL!

I've heard some lukewarm reactions to this one. I sometimes come across it in the music shop and keep asking myself... Should I stay or should I go? Not anymore, though! Thanks!

Rick Wakeman At Lincoln Cathedral, disc 2,track 7 : "The All Mighty Allmighty" DTS (tracks 1-5 are in binaural).

Open Our Eyes - Earth Wind & Fire - From the SQ vinyl... Can't wait for the SACD.

Avalon - Roxy Music (SACD-multi-channel)

Yeah....excellent!!

You must have paid a pretty penny for that disc.
My feeble Master's student income can't support purchasing a disc like that, though I try until it hits a certain price, and then I'm all like…@:

Brian Wilson "That Lucky Old Sun" DVD-V 5.1 Dolby

An unexpected pleasure. Stumbled across this the other day and was able to pick up a new sealed copy on Amazon for under $10.

A reunion of sorts for Brian & Van Dyke Parks on the ode to Sunny California. This disc contains tons of material including an excellent making of doc. The real treat however, is the live in Capitol Studios performance of the entire album featuring Brian and his most excellent band. I was a bit startled at first because I was expecting your typical live, ambience in the rears 5.1 mix. Instead I was treated to a VERY discrete, albeit Dolby only 5.1 mix courtesy of long time Wilson associate Mark Linett.

Brian's troubles are well documented and very little can hide the awkwardness and reduced vocal range he suffers. He is, fortunately in pretty good shape for this recording and the rest of band is stunning.

There is also a very cool short with Brian and a few band members giving an impromptu performance in the the back of a British cab from "The Black Cab Sessions." Highly recommended

Ah, the buddy system!
Which reminds me, I still have discs that I'm borrowing from a QQ member that need to be returned.
Tony Banks' "A Curious Feeling" and "Quatermass" (by Quatermass).

Loved the former for the most part, although in reality, it's essentially a watered down version of something like "And Then There Were Three", which is my least favorite Genesis album. So on its own, it's a good work, but it can't even come close to the majesty of a Genesis record like "Duke".

As for the latter, didn't really like it at all. First off, it's not really a surround mix cause they didn't have things separated enough on tape to really break everything out like you normally would, plus the music at times came off as like a watered down version of Deep Purple or something like.

Anyways, that's a long tangent. ;)
