Oh, HELL Yeah! Great album and really engaging mix! Fun documentary as well. I'm seriously gonna need to find matching speakers for my surrounds, so i can hear my Atmos mixes!
Dig that Peter Max cover!@humprof announcement about Alice Coltrane has me revisiting this beauty. I'll include the link he posted at the bottom.

Another exciting Sono Luminus recording [2 RBCDs/1 PURE AUDIO BD~A 2.0/5.1/7.1] currently sale priced @ $7Del Sol String Quartet, Scrapyard Exotica: compositions by Mason Bates, Ken Ueno, and Mohammed Fairouz. I got this for a song--it's still just five bucks!--during the most recent Sono Luminus sale, to plug a hole in my collection. Label head and surround engineer Daniel Shores deserves at least as much recognition as 2L's Morten Lindberg, I think; sonically, this is a demo-quality classical surround mix. (No Atmos on this one, as it's from 2015; 5.1 and 7.1 only.) Musically, I like the Bates piece more than the other two (Bates is famously also a DJ as well as a classical composer, and it's one of his "Bagatelles for String Quartet and Electronica" that gives the album its name), but they're all interesting examples of contemporary chamber music.

that Japanese Premium Sound SACD has a different Surround mix from the Doobies Quadio set, Clem gem! the Japanese Premium Sound SACD has a "new"(ish) 5.1 remix done by Elliot Scheiner, no less, for the DVD-Audio format back in the early noughties, whereas the Quadio Blu-ray has the original 1970's Quadraphonic mix!Another release i'm glad i own, despite its being released in a Quadio box. I was lucky to find this one in Japan!
