Florian Hoefner Trio, Desert Bloom (IAA Atmos mkv/mp4 download). Amazing what John "Beetle" Bailey was able to do with a simple jazz piano trio record. (It starts with piano in the rears and bass/drums in the fronts, but it's incredibly full and spacious-sounding mix.) Fans of the 5.1 mixes on the Songlines label, especially, should get this one.

Stumbled into this one from a “ambient, downtempo, and lo-fi” thread on video game forum ResetEra. Someone linked the “DVD mix”… intrigued I did some digging, sampled a lil bit of it, and found a cheap copy on Discogs (so cheap it didn’t even hit the seller’s shipping threshold. Threw in a CD copy of The Future Sound Of London’s My Kingdom single/EP to round it out.)

First listen before Phish takes the stage at SPAC tonight (free stream of that on YouTube tonight and tomorrow, show is to raise funds for Vermont flooding relief)

mixed by Ronald Prent, one of my personal favourite Surround Music engineers, however i got this one nearly 10 years ago and think i played it maybe twice in all that time

in all fairness there has been a lot of juicy Quad/5.1 and yummy Atmos under the bridge since then, so it's definitely time for a revisit!

I never saw them with Moon, but i did see them half a dozen times. They never failed to impress. Always looked forward to the Entwistle bass solo. Man, i'm SO STOKED for Who's Next!

Dozan Fujiwara x Isao Tomita - Hibiki Kyo (5.1 SACD, COGQ-36)

Phenomenal 5.1 mix! I think it might even be in the top three 5.1 mixes I've heard! Gets a solid 10 from me!

This album which was released in 2008 is NO LONGER AVAILABLE @ CDJapan, has no listing on Discogs and one recently sold on ebay for US$86.65 + $20 expedited s/h from Japan [like new]!

Wish I could get my hands on one.
