Foreigner 4, DVD A 5.1 Advanced Resolution. 75.5 decibels. Awesome, again. I love DVD A's. They have such a raw sound that no new releases in surround, Audio Fidelity (soft rock), Acoustic Sounds ( they actually are OK with heavy stuff) or even the very few BD-A's can match. I am the boss of guitar rock and I am sick of all this, lets get it on. You people who release SACD in stereo or mch, lets get heavy and make some real money.
Lute, I miss you. I almost went back to HRAudio.net just because QQ can talk about the same thing over and over and it bores me.

Great to have you back! I was thinking about you last night, Mark. As I was doing some channel surfing, I came across a 2011 concert of Joe Satriani...and stayed up late watching the whole thing! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Yo6LXD7uzn4

Hell yes! AF, AP, Rhino and others...
we definitely are in need of something HEAVY in SURROUND!!! :nuke:nuke

For now, I am listening to some Goatsnake in DPL-II. :sun

Béla Bartók: Concerto for Orchestra, Dance Suite, Hungarian Peasant Songs (SACD)

Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra
Zoltán Kocsis (conductor)

Superb performances back up by a fantastically realistic surround mix.

A perfect morning for some Moodies.

Bartók in surround?! ooooooo :phones

If anyone would know if a list of surround releases by Bartók, Ligeti, Penderecki, or other similar composers exists somewhere, I'd like to know. :)

*for those who don't know these guys, think Stanley Kubrick: "2001, A Space Odyssey" or "The Shining"

These links should be a good place to start.

Bartók... http://www.sa-cd.net/search/Bart%F3k

Ligeti... http://hraudio.net/search.php?format=0&keywords=Ligeti

Penderecki... http://hraudio.net/search.php?format=0&keywords=Penderecki

NEOS Classics has many excellent MCH SACDs of contemporary classical music. Some of these are discrete, such as Alberto Ginastera: Popol Vuh Op. 44, Cantata para América Mágica Op. 27. These works by the Argentinean master are powerful and dramatic with hints of Stravinsky and Bartók. http://www.allmusic.com/album/ginastera-popol-vuh-cantata-para-américa-mágica-mw0001958146

Another amazing Multichannel SACD is from Kairos... Friedrich Cerha: Spiegel I-VII, Monumentum, Momente. Intense stuff!! Awesome recording!

Listening to samples of Friedrich Cerha.. I'm only on the second so far, "Spiegel II", and I'm floored..

Alan Parsons A Valid Path DualDisc: Listening to the DTS 5.1 and liking it even more and more than last time. So glad to have this one, it's a lot of fun. I should vote on this, the content works for me, lots of discrete bits and the fidelity is also quite good.

The first time I heard this recording was late one night...all alone. I had the volume turned way up. At one point I felt like I was going to start hallucinating. It scared the s*** out of me. :yikes LOL!

Elusive Disc used to have some Kairos SACDs on sale, but I didn't see any just now. It seems that AmazonUS has some at reasonable prices.

Okay, I've got to look into this one.

Thanks Lute ! That'll keep me busy for some time ;)

I might just place an order for "Cerha: Spiegel-Monumentum-Momente" through the amazon link. Looks like I finally have a reason to "succumb" to SACD... Since I play everything from a hard drive, the format never was my favorite, but now that I've found something I really want that isn't available on dvd-a or blu-ray.. there might be an Oppo on the horizon ^_^

Okay, I've got to look into this one.

The samples are stellar ("Spiegel I" is a bit long to build, though)

Which one exactly puleeeeeeeeeeeeze

that's the one: https://www.kairos-music.com/cds/0013002kai

...and you can grab it here: https://www.amazon.com/Cerha-Spiegel-Monumentum-Momente-Friedrich/dp/B003JSQOAK

Hasn't most people experienced hallucinations at a certain point of their life? Some by taking pills... Others by not taking them

Emma Shapplin - etterna - DVD-A 5.1

How do you like emma shapplin so far?

Listened to ZAPPA-ROXY AND ELSEWHERE last night.I started with the 21mins of bonus tracks, "Dickie Is An *******" is a laugh riot.

And cool to see Pamela -the tart, mess with the band, Fredderico (FB) would approve of her hyjinx.:couch

Alice in Chain SACD- DVD A. I have been working on this one in Audacity. Made it sound the best I can. Mediocre mixes and original disc was compressed as hell!

This is truly bizarre. I am listening to Moving In Stereo from the Cars first album. It is in quad and the song is moving around in quad. Maybe the Cars should reform and rerecord a modern version.
