^ good kitty!
Keeping it in the Sono-Luminus family, I'm listening to 'American Aggregate'. Arguably more challenging, being made of contemporary composers but beautifully recorded directly as 7.1 at 24/192. The 5.1 24/192 I am listening to demands you turn it up - it starts to come alive in all corners, this being sometimes highly directional and sometimes more of a sustained and complete 'circle-sound' experience. 82 minutes of music makes it good value. References would be Philip Glass, Michael Nyman - that sort of thing, even reminds me a little bit of Beaver And Krause at their most orchestral. It's at the more cinematic end of the avant garde though; I'm looking at a large format book of vintage Film Noir posters while I listen and it seems to fit quite nicely. Highly recommended - listen out for the tuning fork/metallophone breakdown in track 4, sonorous but stark and a tiny but chilling. It makes the apartment seem like a vast chamber, quite magical really.
^ good kitty!
Enjoying some classical this evening. Enveloping quad sound!

This is not true hi-rez, so I can't really say that these sound spectacular. Only slightly better than RBCD. But, the surround mix is pretty good. It gives your rear speakers a workout.

Very active rears!
Yeah but also a very good sound quality, sounds great on my rig in my not very well set up listening room :couch
The low end on this one is fantastic.

I've always really liked this one.. Could it be better mixed? Possibly.. we so often find things we'd personally do differently with these surround jobs.. but it's a lot fun and an active room filling mix (shame it regularly goes for silly money these days..) iirc there's a track or two not in surround that are on the stereo version of this hits compilation? Missing multi's maybe?
I wasn't aware of that and never heard about that and I never listen to stereo on a mch sacd so I can't confirm that at the moment :couch
"Doc-Doc-Doc-Doc-Doctor Beat" is one of them iirc
Edit: "Bad Boy" is on the Int'l release CD according to Wikipedia (I don't even remember the song! ) that's not on the surround SACD either.
14 tracks on the MultiCh, 16 on the CD it would appear.
Oh! Doh! Edit again: The U.S./Canadian/Mexican CD has the 14 tracks of the Surround disc according to Wikipedia! My bad!
