What a totally underated Crimzo disc.

Get's better with each listen and throughly enjoyed it last nite .:D A perfect way to end the nite in surround with this Classic .

(and yes I did have this disc on Atlantic back in the day ) Found it weird in " a freaky good (quoting GOS) way."

LIZARD was something of a shock after the first two KC albums, but it surely has grown on me over the years. Reminds me I need to break out the big box set (ISLANDS from that period) at some point . . . maybe spring break :smokin

Then again, don't open it, sell on eBay in ten years and retire ;) I got the smaller DVD box sets as they came out, and listen to them simply for convenience of opening! They also look good lined up together in chronological order along the CD rack. . . .

Haydn - An Imaginary Journey - LSO0808 - 450.jpg

Exclusive Early Release at NativeDSD!

An Imaginary Orchestral Journey is the new album featuring a tribute to Haydn's best known compositions. A "greatest hits" of sorts from Sir Simon Rattle and the London Symphony Orchestra. Check the YouTube linked video below for the conductor's comments on this new release.

It's scheduled for release next week. But we have it for you today at the Native DSD Music store. In DSD Stereo and DSD Surround Sound! What a way to start your Friday.

LSO Live tells us "Sir Simon Rattle pays homage to a composer he holds close to his heart with An Imaginary Orchestral Journey through the music of Joseph Haydn. Rattle trawls through the great composer’s impressive catalogue, piecing together excerpts from symphonies, oratorios and operas spanning a 40-year period in what the director describes as ‘a kind of greatest hits’ format.

‘The idea is to make a musical journey through all that is quirky and extraordinary, humorous and profound in Haydn,’ the LSO’s Music Director explains. Sir Simon’s focus is on Haydn as innovator, showcasing his most forward-looking and outlandish works in 50 minutes of uninterrupted performance.

What results from Sir Simon’s pasticcio is a clear image of the composer he sees to best represent the ideals of the Enlightenment, his selection meticulously arranged to best demonstrate Haydn’s intelligence, wit and thoughtfulness."
