And every week I'd be watching Miami Vice...just think in 10 years we will be talking about Mike Vieira's new album and his network tv show...and Gos will have an open thread on here looking for help with his computer:)

Clint, I just purchased the entire Miami Vice series on BD~A in remastered 5.1 but have yet to crack it open.

And yes, Mike will have his own network: MVT!(y)

And GOS 5.0 and Ralphie will have completed online courses at the University of Phoenix with degrees in computer Science!:banana::banana::banana:

And like poor Alex in Clockwork Orange, Clint will be forced to endure endless hours of Progressive Rock Music, mixed into 5.1 by Steve Wilson as his penance:yikes http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kRZzB7Wge...AFSc/L8uSWCi6ZRo/s1600/A-Clockwork+Orange.png

Wasn't Phil's "In The Air Tonight" part of the first Miami Vice episode or am I mistaken on that?

well.....but there were 2 sets of super duper popular music in the 80's. The whole metal scene - which...at the time...was my go to music. In my part of the world, the metal/hair band scene was 100% more popular than the "other" 80's scene.

Cinderella, Europe, Helix, Def Leppard, Ratt, Skid Row, GNR, Scorpions, Dokken, Tesla on and on and on. These were the bands I was listening to...not ashamed to admit.
My favorites Gene, then and now. 18 and Life.

Gene, I guess you just had to be there :yikes

Loved that show.

Watch SKINS on NETFLIX.........(y)(y)

I just looked up Miami Vice and it says 1984-1989. Well, that pretty much explains it....I was in blackout mode during that time. :violin Well, more particularly from 1982-1985 I really don't have so much memory....

I seriously doubt that I've seen a complete episode of Miami Vice....just another show that was amazingly popular that I just didn't get... :yikes

It was the first show to incorporate popular music in the episodes...great music...great cars...great looking woman...gives me chills to this day on some of those episodes...

So were Crocket and Tubbs...all that peruvian marching powder(cocaine) that everyone was using...in that timeframe...that show rocked(y)

(me - DtU - BD 5.1 - auditioned for my best friend Joe - he says the live tracks may have the gruff vocal some of you are looking for...)

Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger - BD DTS-HD MA 5.1
Temple of the Dog - BD DTS-HD MA 5.1
NIN - Downward Spiral - SACD 5.1
NIN - Beside You In Time - BD Dolby TrueHD 5.1
Depeche Mode - Violator - DVD-V DTS 5.1

Best friend's picks! Two great bottles of wine!

DF- Morph The Cat

First impressions- it ain't Nightfly or Kamakiriad, but nonetheless enjoyable on its own terms. DF sounds great considering how many years later this is. Typically great ES mix.

Nothing wrong with that list. I'd add metal bands to that list like Metallica, Megadeth, Priest, Madien, Queensryche and so forth.

Sadly, very few surround discs from the 80's & 90's hard rock / metal scene. And those that we do have like Metallica's 'Black album', Queensryche's 'Empire', Megadeth's 'Peace Sells', Telsa's 'Standing Room Only' and others are all marginal to poor, IMO.

It registers as 5.1 on my system, but I think the center is silent. At least when I checked it.
And it sounds very old-school quad. Instruments in extreme corners. Cool stuff though.

I’m told that's deliberate, similar to the velvet underground loaded disc. The mention of 4.0 made me think you were referring to a quad that never was. Haven’t played this in a while but I think the center is utilized.

Now that I'm listening for it, the lead vocal uses the center.
