It's really too bad there isn't more ELO in surround .

I was really hoping for Steven Wilson to take on their early catalog as he has mentioned he would love to hear one of ELO'S discs in his top ten surround picks.
For me , I'd love either a quad or 5.1 version of Eldorado . :)

A New World Record would be pretty sweet in 5.1 I think...

Since I'm mostly caught up ripping all my SACD/DVD-A, etc titles.....I think today is a rainy day...and I'm going to sift through my old standard DVD's and look for surround music titles to rip. LOL! I have LOTS of DVD music titles...as I'm sure many on QQ do as well.

A couple of Ozzy's come to mind....but unfortunately...he does a damn lot of talking....

Since it seems we will never get ELO in surround...I decided to dig out my ZOOM DVD and rip the audio to my library. The DTS layer was only 5.0, so I opted for the DD 5.1. Both are only 46/24, so no worries there. AT last now, I will be able to more often hear some ELO in surround.... Of course, this is live as you all know...but you also know that Lynne isn't so chatty...so it's really mostly all music with no filler. :)

Are you sure? I think my mkv rip of the disc is dts 5.1. Dvd Audio Extractor sometimes show wrong number of channels - but rip to correct number of channels.

Anyways, playing the show - Evil woman!! :LB

Ah, could be that then...I did't want to take any chances....the DD 5.1 sounds just fine really.

Doesn't look like much surround going on by the channel plots at the bottom, is it a live recording? The Kansas albums would suit surround mixes
Yeah, it's live...but it still sounds very, very good. Typical live, with more reverb in back....but it's a super full and well recorded disc. If you like the music.....it's just fun to listen to.

Just got a backup NAS box up & running at the other end of my apartment, plus bigger hard drives all around. Now that I have some free space again, I'm catching up on some file organizing & tagging, while listening to Fleetwood Mac in 5.1.

I dunno, man... Something tells me this could've sounded better.

Beethoven - Sonatas for Piano & Violin (Pentatone SACD)- Ambience in the rears, but the surround mix really fills the room (you can't really expect a discrete surround mix with two instruments!) The music and performances are the real stars here... I don't recognize these songs from any movies or anything, but I just love this disc from start to finish... the interplay between the violin and piano are so intricately interwoven and the melodies are just so enjoyable... I've been listening to this one over and over.
