Marillion "Clutching At Straws" BD-A 5.1... first impression is good... some decent surround activity with synths and background vocals in the rears... this one needs to be turned up!!! (definitely no clipping here :) )... I think I've heard "Warm Wet Circles" before... I like them, er, the song...

...the low end seems a little... anemic... after listening to "Electric Ladyland", though...

Steely Dan: Two Against Nature, 5.1 dts

I remember listening to "Third World Man" back in 1980. It felt like a sad song to me; not just because of the minor key, but also because it was the last song on the very last Steely Dan album... (Sigh.)

Fast-forward 20 years: But wait, there's more! And by god it was worth the wait! Wonderful songs, beautifully recorded.

Skip ahead another 5 or 10 years until I finally get to hear this surround mix: Holy hell, where has THIS been all my life! Wow.

Sitting here trying to decide whether to cough up 50 or 60 bucks for the DVD-Audio version. I hate to admit it, but this 48K dts sounds pretty damn good. But I love the music so much, I'm curious to see if it can sound noticeably better.

What do you guys & gals think? Should I go for it? (The mixes are the same, right?)

The DVD-A is the studio album. The DVD-V is a live
concert with some tunes from Two Against Nature and some from older albums.

As my Hemispheres isn't even posted yet with all the talk about it I needed some Rush so I've got 2112 deluxe on, DVDV DD 5.1 not too bad!

Edit: Just finished, the credits are telling me the 5.1 is Richard Chycki, are you guys telling me he's done a worse job of Hemispheres than this? or just not as good as Farewell?

His Hemispheres mix is done about as well as his 2112 mix.
