The Beatles 5.1 BD-A... I know people are going crazy for Jimi Hendrix, and the mix is a wild ride, but I really love the well balanced mix Giles has created here...the mix really fits the music (and I should probably add that Kramer's mix fits Jimi's music perfectly as well )

Just read about this release in a recent DownBeat and am curious to hear it. @Simon A: is your CD the 2004 Japanese remaster, or the 2011 American two-fer with Universal Consciousness?

I got the two European 2fers. I'm happy with them.

Interesting. (And glad to see that the rumors of your departure were greatly exaggerated, @Simon A !)

Discogs says that these two-fers were also remastered--or perhaps they just used whatever had been done for the Japanese issues in '04. Anyway, I guess this means that, as with some of the other, earlier Impulse CDs, the quad encoding survived the remastering process?

A little late for Veteran's/Armistice Day, but a good listen regardless. The composer fought and was wounded at the Somme and his brother, also at that battle, didn't return. It relies more on allegory than on direct reference to the battle, but still powerful.

Marillion "Clutching At Straws" BD-A 5.1... first impression is good... some decent surround activity with synths and background vocals in the rears... this one needs to be turned up!!! (definitely no clipping here )... I think I've heard "Warm Wet Circles" before... I like them, er, the song...
