I likewise am playing that AF mch SACD. Truth be told.....Dylan's an undeniably brilliant songwriter ... but that nasal voice.....Saw him once live in the 70's and was disappointed...especially after seeing Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band with Clarence Clemmons a week before. NO comparison ...... The Boss was BOSS!
I saw Dylan live with Paul Simon (dual bill with a Johnny Cash tribute duet set between sets). Was awesome, but the Simon set was MUCH more enjoyable.
I'm sitting here reveling at how this was spellbinding to this crowd. Was just a different time. This is an interesting historical document, in that sense.
R.I.P. AF...

Believe me, Mike, I played a LOT of Dylan way back then and was always mesmerized by his spellbinding lyricism ...... but I also enjoyed it when others with superior vocal chords interpreted his music. Robert Zimmerman aka B. Dylan will always be one of THE best songwriters of his generation .... bar none!

But I do agree. Glad AF released this BOOTLEG disc on superior sounding SACD and also glad it included Joan Baez, who, BTW, was madly in love with Mr. Zimmerman!

Great mix on this! "Rocky Mountain Way" has the lead guitar in right rear and the talkbox solo in left rear. Sonically it's a bit dull, but given that it's a GRT title I wouldn't hold my breath for a reissue.

Silver Dagger is gorgeous! I wish Baez were in more of the set, but I guess you had to be there...
I strongly suspect that this release killed AF's MC program though. And nearly NO need for surround on this one. Could have been a stereo SACD with cheaper licencing?

No-brainer SACD remaster?

I wish Vanguard would release Baez's gorgeous 60's and early 70's output as well in hi res multichannel. Everyone thinks this LIVE Dylan double SACD put AF out of business, and I'm sure it did contribute to their demise, but according to bmoura, licensing fees for all or most of AF's mch and even stereo SACDS was $30K a pop. I'm sure [actually positive] that Dutton Vocalion's licensing fees are way less than that! And additionally, AF didn't have deep pockets like MoFi and Analogue Productions which respectively, have Music Direct and Acoustic Sounds as 'sugar daddies.'

Agreed. I grabbed a copy from Elusive Disc for like $20 a few months ago. I look at it more as an enjoyable "enhanced stereo" listen rather than an actual surround disc. The stereo layer through a good DSP could probably get close to the actual surround treatment.

Nashville Skyline (one track made it to The Collection) or Desire quads would've been sooooooo much better...

Jonathan, AF's mch SACD The Collection was also not only labor intensive but likewise cost Audio Fidelity a pretty penny to produce .... and if you recall, was released to mixed reviews. That AF was able to release approximately 30+ multichannel SACDs was a minor miracle due to the ridiculous US licensing Fees. But as moderator bmoura points out .... when major motion picture companies license just one track from an A list artist ... it can cost between $200~400K [and in some cases MORE]....and this includes TV 'commercials' as well.

Not currently listening to anything in surround other than the regular play in the mind, kid is safe and sound asleep and the wife will be soon. Just popped an ancient Moet, fantastic though it shouldn't be. I don't do New Years Eve, but always hear it. Good luck to you all and may you have good fortune.

Should be in concert thread..but hey ho it's New Years Eve.
Zoom live..the ever brilliant Jeff Lynne.
Nice mix for a live show too.
8.40 am here in the UK , neva too early for a bit of tasty ELO.

And the lead singer Rosie Vela was in a 7 year relationship with Jeff.
Who would have thought that the zoom tour was cancelled due to poor ticket sales!!

Awesome Atmos mix - and the fidelty is excellent. It's the best surround album I have - by far.

Autobahn... the place to test the speed of your car (or bike) - no speed limit! Visited Germany more than once, just to drive fast :)

This is the very best mix out there..imo..German precision to the max.

My son's favourite band..Beastie Boys : Hot Sauce
Took him to see them for his 21st at the IOW Bestival in 2008

Mix is a bit lame though.
Not sure I will be playing all this disc.
Hippety Hoppety not really my fang.

Can't find a poll listing for this one?
Maybe not too many peeps interested in this release..got mine dirt cheap.
