Mine is the same barcode and I purchased it from Amazon and discogs has that UPC number as the CORRECT one for a US version HERE and my player loves it

I'm puzzled...what is the risk...that is the correct UPC number for the US official version...the unofficial UPC number for the Russian version is 4602517129744

Well, your system or your eyes failed you. It's pretty friggin great.

Plus in my opinion obviously he's had better material like EC Was Here should have been given the same treatment . Which is included but no 5.1 for that :-(

As I wrote before, sealed copies of the UPC for the "official" NSTC are shipping from the Russian Federation. The risk is that they are now duplicating the "good" UPC. That is far more likely than a bunch of Russians buying sealed official copies for resale (losing their asses by buying high, selling low).
It is not a risk I will take, as to whether I'm getting an original or pirated copy. I.e. the well has been poisoned on this one, for me.

Sounds like you made a good decision, for you. I happen to be thoroughly enjoying the set, for what it is...

I purchased this from Amazon.com years ago and thought the mix on the 5.1 was terrible so I returned it for a full refund

I guess we all have unique tastes- I didn't truly love 461 Ocean Boulevard until I heard ES' 5.1 mix. For me that mix is a total slam dunk. I think the song "Please Be With Me" is one of the best surround tracks ever.

Are you sure you're not thinking of Mick Guzauski's 5.1 mix on the 461 SACD?

I'm not so sure your expanded theory on the Russian practices of pirating are relevant to the Ebay posting I provided for you...its' not a Russian seller and he's got an excellent reputation and the most important thing is the UPC code is the correct one for the official release...I understand the "well has been poisoned" for you on this one...my concern is that you don't poison the well for others from buying this title based on your "theories"....I'd recommend this seller to anyone..

I'm acutely aware of personal security...but I'm also not looking for conspiracy motives under every rock...you seem to consider any disagreement with your point of view lately as being undermined...you told a poster on this thread today this his system or his eyes failed him because he didn't agree with your assessment of a surround title....but to raise suspicions about a legit seller on Ebay who doesn't fit any of the parameters of a "bootleg" seller are just stretching it too far...

Yes, I made a snarky post about Give Me Strength this morning. Flog me, why don't cha. It happens to be the majority opinion that ES's 461 mix kills. We all have the right to respond when someone makes a statement about mixes.

I'm not disputing the Russian methods...but there is NO linking them to this seller..that is what this is all about...I won't make the mistake of recommending another option to you in the future....not confrontational...just disagree....

Cool man. It really is a bitchin' mix. There was also a 4.0 of the same album on the blu-ray, plus there is a different mix on DTS-CD. Is it possible you've swapped the recollection of any of those in your mind?
I really recommend checking out the ES mix again, at some point.

The DTS-CD and the Blu-Ray are the same 4.0 mix, which was released on CD-4 vinyl and Q8 tape back in the day. The DTS-CD has much worse fidelity, as it was likely sourced from a lossy DAT transfer of the master tape, and has derived center/sub channels. I've also noticed the rears are mastered a few dB too low on some tracks of the DTS-CD.

I just got back. I was mainly based in Bagram, but flew all over the country. Kandahar, Hellman, Kabul and other lesser-known spots. Hit some of the Middle East too.
