..and we're "Up, Up and A-way-hay-hay" in our boo'ful balloon wiv the ol' mean Half-A Fiddler! :p

starts out kinda bright and a bit 1-dimensional on the title track, kinda crunchy on me delicate lugholes after the smooth sounds of 'angin' out with 'Enry M.. but things settle down in the Valley Of The Dolls and the Quad sound opens up immeasurably.. some of these Fiedler's Pops arrangements are so rousing they make you want to jump up and wave your flag like its the last night of The Proms! :hi

..some of the down tempo stuff, like the Mozart Andante from Elvira Madigan that's playing right now, is just heavenly.. perfect for a Sunday afternoon with yer feet up and a nice slug of leftover Christmas sherry.. cheers all ye delightful QQ-ers! :coffee:

edit to add: i'm now into the Fiedler's Choice tracks and they sound absolutely fantastic! they are more your usual Classical style surround mix (4-channel from what i can make out rather than 5.1, which is a nice touch) rather than the highly active Quad style. they're a lovely bonus, it's all good (y)

(a lovely big kiss, that is!) :ROFLMAO:

although be careful when you get the next DV batch, some of these tunes are seeeeeeriously romantic! i think the good lady may be wanting more than just a kiss 'n cuddle after (or even during!) Barry White and Henry M and the Strippers..!! :51QQ;)

Oh, Yeah, Alicia...give it to me baby in 5.1: SO FINE!

..and the DV January marathon
continues on with.. standby for a mouthful, even just to give one half of this 2-fer its' proper title, deep breath...

"Stolen Goods; Gems Lifted from the Masters" by The Outrageous Dr Teleny's Incredible Plugged-In Orchestra.

straight off, its one of those wacky ping-pongy type mixes, a bit like the earlier Hugo Montenegro's, stuff is popping up at you all over the place in a dizzying assault on the senses!!! o_O

musically, its kinda kitsch takes on Classical.. with guitars wailing and horns blasting and drums crashing, choirs oohing & ahhing, synthesiser type stuff and crazy sound effects wooshing and swooshing, kazooing and divebombing about amidst more traditional Classical instruments.. its like Herb Alpert crossed with Hugo Montenegro crossed with Tomita crossed with Ray Conniff crossed with Percy Faith crossed with Arthur Fiedler crossed with aliens invading earth.. oh God, here comes some creepy whistling.. I think I have a headache already, this is totally bonkers. pass the Gin!!! :p

Vanishing Point is my favorite song on that disc...it's an album that because of the surround sound...I like it as much as Silk Degrees...and that wasn't always the case...over time Vanishing Point has become my Lido Shuffle and King of El Paso has become Lowdown...and then fredblue's Miss Riddle gives it some spice:rocks

that's my theme tune!

"hey miss riddle,
i got to go piddle - again.."

oh how i long for a younger prostate! actually if i could trade everything in for a perfect cyborg android whatever upgrade even better :ROFLMAO:

..anyhoo.. the DV January Juggernaut ploughs on! beep beep! coming thru! :p

listening to now (in stupidly surround-y surround sound)..

Ettore Stratta & The Baroque Pops' "Viva Vivaldi!"

if you liked the Swingle Singers and Mauriat DV type SACDs, you're gonna love this.. its so super easy to listen to.. yet the extreme Quad-dy-ness of the mix makes it strangely more compelling than more in your face music..

oh what's this? a Spanish guitar sultrily plucking away over my right shoulder, of course.. literally an in-room presentation.

staggering.
