Gentle Giant - "Free Hand"... I have to say, I'm liking this better than "The Power and the Glory" in terms of musical content; seems a little less "clinical/sterile" with less emphasis on "progressive" and more emphasis on "rock". "On Reflection" is a surround showpiece... (after correcting the channels, that is!)

This one?

What do you mean about correcting the channels?
Thats the one! There's a thread on here about "channel reassignments" that describes specifically how to do it, but 3 of the channels need to be rotated to different speakers to correct the mix. After that, you have to raise the levels of the left channels to balance the mix. The result sounds great! I used DVDAE to make wav files, then used Audacity to do the re assignments and balancing.

Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds - omg, this is bad-ass
This past weekend, i had a chance to listen to both discs properly though I've had them for at least a year and had a great time. It's not "modern" sounding (not an issue for me) and the fidelity and surround are quite nice.

Tears For Fears Songs From The Big Chair Blu Ray: Screen shot 2015-09-19 at 1.38.53 PM.png Very nice low end, great use of the surrounds and a clean immersive sound. Really like the drums.

Eric Clapton Slowhand SACD:Screen shot 2015-09-19 at 6.00.22 PM.png Still working through the stack, this was a pre subwoofer disc for me. Started with the AVR set to "Multichannel" mode and it sounded veiled and muddy. Switched to "Direct" mode and no exaggeration, my first thought was it sounded nearly live.

Rattle That Lock... Excellent fidelity and even better surround mix; David's magical guitar playing sounds as good as it ever has, and his voice has a rich, grizzled timbre... I'm loving this disc! Anybody open the letter?

I have. It's something relating to one of the songs on the album. You'll know which one it is once you open it and see it! ;)
