Very nice MC mix indeed. Is the MC mix as good as was originally reported? Another one I regretfully missed on.
Might can still be had ~$40-50 if you keep your nose to the ground

I rarely disagree with "sjcorne", and this time is no exception, but, where else are you going to get Satriani in surround?Love the album, but I thought the surround mix was hit-or-miss: some tracks sound mostly ambient (“Oriental Melody”, “Starry Night”), others have all kinds of panning and swirling effects (“Belly Dancer”), and others are full-on discrete (“You Saved My Life” has a different guitar track in each corner). Worth tracking down, IMO, but not for too much.

Maybe here with G3 and a few other DVD-Vs but mainly in DD.

Oh, I can disagree, take Cassandra Wilson's Traveling Miles as an example. But I really hate to disagree with my QQ brethren unless they are just dead wrong."..we just disagree.."
(hopefully exists in Quad!)

My exact point - love it- others only consider the cock-up on the mix and aren’t giving the content enough consideration!what's wrong with the Cassandra W 5.1? the DTS track is fine!
QQThe whole dang shabang

I really, really love this album, but Richard Chycki makes my ears cry, more so on this one than on any of his other Rush mixes. Screw it, I'm gonna give it another try right now.Rush - Subdivisions
DVD-A MLP Lossless 96/24 5.1
Though I've never heard or owned Subdivisions in any format, I keep passing on the DVD-A due to similar comments. But if the sound quality is superior to the RBCD (even in stereo, don't tell anyone) I'd still get it for that reason alone.I really, really love this album, but Richard Chycki makes my ears cry, more so on this one than on any of his other Rush mixes. IMO, you missed the good half. Almost no discreteness on Side A. Side B gets WAY more adventurous. Losing It, I dare say, is almost demo quality.I made it about halfway through Signals before my ears gave out.
The main problem I have with Chycki's 'Subdivisions' is that it sounds so harsh and limited. I wouldn't even care that much about the lack of surround mix or dynamics I guess, but to me it just sounds so unpleasant and harsh. Compared to the hi-res stereo mix on the DVD-A Chycki's mix sounds a bit better on my system. Bear in mind (IMO) the original LP is a muddy mess. The main problem I have with Chycki's 'Subdivisions' is that it sounds so harsh and limited. I love the R40 live version of 'Losing It' with Ben Mink on violin, the original guy from the album!IMO, you missed the good half. Almost no discreteness on Side A. Side B gets WAY more adventurous. Losing It, I dare say, is almost demo quality.
(I do too). Give it a try on the DVD-A or BD-A sometime! I promise it's way more discrete than anything from Side A.I love the R40 live version of 'Losing It' with Ben Mink on violin, the original guy from the album!
