Clement. Where do you find this stuff ?

Well...I suppose that is one way to look at it and I respect your opinion. Unfortunately for me, since I have been bitten by the multichannel bug, even the best stereo mixes bore me to tears !!!That’s not how I look at it. We get the one Quad Mott that was released, and for only $10 bucks more, we get 2 more albums of classic music in Hi-Rez that one normally wouldn’t have bought or even been familiar with. Win - Win in my estimation.

But MOST unfortunately, as there are, in hindsight, only a VERY small percentage of albums in DISCRETE multichannel, one's aural palette cannot, IMO, survive only on multichannel!
Maybe you should think about investing in The Surround Master which will transform your 'boring' stereo collection into better surround than your receiver's DSP modes.
Just a thought.
Thanks for the tip...although spending MORE money on this hobby kind of kills me
I will say that the 7 channel setting on my Yamaha receiver can at times deliver a surprisingly good faux surround experience - especially with a good source disc.
“Who’s Next” SHM-SACD is a pretty good “fake”
I don't have the Surround Master yet but am seriously eyeing the SM Version 3 which Chucky will soon unveil touting the latest and greatest implementation of his well reviewed device yet!
And to be perfectly honest....I'd rather spend MY money on system UPGRADES rather than outrageously expensive box sets or out of print multichannel discs....but THAT'S ME!
Is that the DV staff discussing which quads to release next?
When you change discs think of it as flipping a record over to play the second side.So the Mott album arrived and I was excited but who in their right mind puts 3 albums over 2 cds (SACDs)? The Hoople is on disc 1 (and sounds great in Quad) with 5 tracks from Dudes and the other 4 Dudes' tracks are on disc 2 with Mott. Also my player (Oppo 205 so pretty good) plays the first 9 tracks on disc 1 very well and it sounds great but the 5 tracks from Dudes doesn't show up. I know they are there because I put the disc in my PC and I can see them (in CD quality), just not play them through my player. So disappointing as I wanted to hear these albums in SACD quality.
Just got my order (Mott, BTO and Burton Cummings). I'm in Ohio, so that was extremely quick for a UK to the US shipment, (I did splurge for the upgraded shipping).
I had the Mott on vinyl and I had always thought that there was a pressing/decoding issue in that Ian Hunter's vocals seemed buried in the mix. Well, they are still buried with the D/V Disc, so I guess that must have been something in the original mixing decisions. I'll have to go back to this one.
I went over to the Burton Cummings and I'm really liking the mix so far...
Ok....thanks...didn’t realize....got to check my glasses prescription...lolBecause it's almost double the amount of SACD discs, ie 2 instead of 1.
I'm in CT and received my Steven Wilson TFB in the mail yesterday and the mail truck just made his stop today. "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."With the Blizzard of 2021 Raging in the Tri State Area [New Jersey, New York & Connecticut] doubtful there'll be any mail deliveries until Wednesday, the earliest. I too opted for Priority s/h from the UK>New York. Hopefully I'll have them sometime this week!
Glad you're enjoying them.
Yes, but they don’t deliver if you don’t shovel out your mailbox. Reality bites!I'm in CT and received my Steven Wilson TFB in the mail yesterday and the mail truck just made his stop today.
