Alas my copy did not arrive yesterday but to day is the day. A giant Zeppelin with pig ears is hovering over my neighborhood ready to drop my bluray and the neighbors look nervous.
What’s all this droning on about Animals dropping out of the sky? Is this another case of “when pigs fly”?

It's here, WooHoo FINALLY!

Excuse the room clutter, etc. I still haven't totally recovered from the lightning strike, new gear install, etc.

Good that it's named Animals - 2018 Remix
That will forever remind us it took 4 years to release and
what a total wanker Waters is.
I'll save my sonic comments for the poll thread only to say here, Awesome

- it's bloody awkward getting the disc out of the slipcase isn't it!
Yes, almost no way to get it out without fingerprints on it.
I hate leaving fingerprints !!!

What clutter? All I can see is a big yellow pig!

Is the 5.1 mix on the BD available in LPCM or only DTS HD MA and Dolby TrueHD?
I have an old AVR and it cannot decode HD MA or True Hd.

The 5.1 mixes on the BD are labelled (confusingly I think) as either "uncompressed" or DTS. The "uncompressed" is LPCM, whereas the DTS is DTS HD MA, which is also uncompressed I believe!

Anyway, the mix (of one of my all time favourite albums) is superb. On first listen the DTS MA sounded better to me, although I haven't listened closely enough to compare properly yet. I will repeat what I said earlier, that there doesn't appear to be a lot happening in the mix in the centre speaker, which is a little disappointing to my old ears.

Your menu on screen for this disc looks different to my BD menu.

James Guthrie doesn't really use the center speaker in his 5.1 mixes. The only instance I can think of where it sees some action is with the sax at the beginning of "Us and Them."

My BR hasn't been delivered yet but I've been listening to the stereo remix on Tidal.
Wow! The mastering is anything but hammered, nice and punchy with a sweet, smooth high end, nice clarity and stereo spread...and the low end!! I'm not so sure that some of that low bass was on the original tapes though. Kinda sounds like one of those bass-extension plugins (that add bass in an octave lower) in a couple of spots. It certainly is nowhere to be found in the original mix. Of course they had to mix with vinyl in mind back then as too much bass would reduce playing time.
Not that I'm complaining

Exactly why I asked. I haven't seen a shot of the rear cover, and all I can see everywhere is "uncompressed, DTS HD MA" - what do they mean by that? Thanks for the clarification.
I think today is the release day and much to my surprise I just found out online that a local media store has the BD in stock only a few hundred metres away from my home (alas it happened 40 minutes after they had closed so I need to walk there first thing in the morning).
