Pink Floyd - "Animals" 5.1 Surround Sound Mix (Blu-Ray & SACD editions out in September 2022!)

James Guthrie doesn't really use the center speaker in his 5.1 mixes. The only instance I can think of where it sees some action is with the sax at the beginning of "Us and Them."

True. This is the reason why I prefer the QUAD mixes of DSOTM and WYWH. Not really a fan of the JG mixes. There's really no need for them.

This is different because there was never a QUAD mix of it.

The release always was in October for the Deluxe-box.

I ordered the BDA from SDE when I realised the Box Set would be released later..... and still ordered the Box Set!

I have given this one listen to so far, the clarity is great, I have heard things I never heard on the LP or CD release. I do like the surround mix. Need a few more listens to before I vote. But so far I reckon it was worth the rather long the wait!

Sigh, takes me back to January 1977, being 19 in my 2nd term at Uni, and I went out and bought it, and the others in the student house came into my room and listened as well.

The "uncompressed" is LPCM, whereas the DTS is DTS HD MA, which is also uncompressed I believe!

DTS MA HD is compressed- it's just lossless compression: i.e. when uncompressed it's identical to the original file.

- the disc is really quiet, so you can/have to crank it up a lot.

I gave up on this a while ago. Tired of the endless delays, I went ahead and got a dvd of some quad mixes off ebay- which sound really good. I said F them, if they care so little about their fans, I won't give them my money.

But you guys have changed my mind and it's ordered. It helps it's not a huge, over-priced box with lots of useless stuff in it.

I just received an email from music glue informing me that:
"The release date of 'Pink Floyd - Pink Floyd Animals (2018 Remix) Blu-Ray' has been changed to 22 Sep"

DAYUUUUUMMM! This freakin’ sounds absolutely amazing in all regards. To say this is a conservative mix is Guthrie bias at its best.

Just got done listening through this thing. Really liking what Guthrie has done. Best mix probably goes to Pigs for me. The drums and bass just sound huuuuuge, and love Rick Wright’s piano slide sweeping across the rears!

Finally.... arrived a few minutes ago. It sucked hearing everyone else talk about it but since most of the reviews were positive, it made me that much more looking forward to it.
My night is clear and my head is clear. I'll have to do something about the latter. Time to listen.

Boy it is really nice to be surprised by an outstanding remix when everyone was expecting worse. For $20 a bluray with an atmos errrr (CORRECTED 5.1) mix you can hold in your hand and play whenever you want.

I think Mr. Guthrie got a little carried away with the LFE channel. Can’t wait too see the waveform breakdown.
