The fake Floyd quads are nothing more than the CD copies put into 4 speakers. You're really truly not missing anything!

The Atom Heart Mother quad you want is the one we remastered from A_L's UK quad Q8. There's still tape hiss but it's managed. Complete removal without damaging the program is not possible and the versions that did do that are absolutely destroyed beyond listenability. No issues with the high or low end. Not quite the fidelity of the stereo mix as found on the MFSL vinyl but better fidelity than the stereo mix as found on any of the CD copies.

I have to agree that the UK quad Q8 of Atom Heart Mother is by far the best of the Floyd albums that havn't received proper surround releases. That being said, I've heard the floydflush upmix of Meddle as well as several Animals and The Wall upmixes, and these sound far more discrete than many official releases that I have regretted spending money on. Upmixes have their place for albums that havn't been released in surround or will never be released in surround. As a Floyd fan, I'm glad I've been able to hear these upmixes and will continue to enjoy them! (And I'll take a good Beatles upmix over a Giles Martin remix any day!)

The Animals upmix I have really is superb, as well as creative (the first track is stereo and then it opens up to 'surround' with Dogs).
