Try the Kodi SACD add-on, but it converts DSD to pcm anyway. So hence me recommending just converting to FLAC. Then it’s very easy to fully tag etc.

Are your DSD albums stored as ISO or DSF files?

(You can tag DSF files, ISOs no)

as people work on tagging and getting album art, here is a site I use that gets the art from apple music
https://bendodson.com/projects/itunes-artwork-finder/
Don’t forget to resize, some are 3000x3000. Kodi never needs that res. Even if you have a 4K monitor, cover art is never shown covering the full 4K height of 2160. 1000 x 1000 is plenty.

This one is my ‘go to’ for a huge choice of different resolutions and release versions:

Kodi caches cover art in its local database/folder and resizes your art. On these NUCs I have set max to 2160 height (so artist fanart can be cached for a 4K screen). This cache in on your NUCs NVME drive, fast and plenty of space.

Thanks! DSD albums are all stored as individual DSF song files on my streaming NAS. I also have the ISO’s as backup.

I will convert all DSF’s to FLAC. I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and the new NUC gives me an excuse 😉

I have been using this for dsf->flac. Does it look right or should I redo it?
ffmpeg -i <FILE> -af lowpass=24000 -sample_fmt s16 -ar 88200 <OUTPUT>

Ive been a Kodi user for maybe 5 years or so now. Ive tried other media players during that time. But kodi is the only one that stuck.

Im kinda doing this with you. The kodi version im currently using is probably 2 years old. Ya know if it aint broken....

How many of you are 1st time kodi users?
Me. Do we have to split the mkv into songs in MMH?

also I am looking for kind soul that can provide an Alibaba link to a high capacity (6-8TB) 2.5" drive for the tall units, 7mm is that the standard drive width or?...

Just select Roles. The orchestra role should be listed there by default. The list should read, Composers, Conductors, Orchestras, Lyricists, Arrangers, Remixers, Album Artists, Song and album artists, All Contributors, All Roles.

As ever, a picture tells a thousand words

EDITED TO ADD

It might well depend upon what you are using to tag your stuff and what format (and therefore tagging system) that you are using. MP3/FLAC/OGG all (ab)use the performer tag. Apple doesn't support it though.
Interesting. Here is what I see when I select Music -> Roles:

I use the program Tagscanner to tag my flac files.
Here is Mediainfo of one of my classical flac files:

Do you see anything wrong with the tags?
Could it be that the "ORCHESTRA" tag name is all upper case?

Me. Do we have to split the mkv into songs in MMH?

If the MKV has an Atmos stream:
If the album does not require gapless playback, then right now use MMH to split to .m4a files (the Atmos stream will be copied to a Mpeg container and can be tagged easily
if If the album does require gapless playback (not too many do) then rename it to MKA (,mkv -> mka), tag it with the MMH Chapter Editor and Kodi will read the tags into the music db

I've made a few more changes to MMH 9 today to add support for tagging Track/Songs in a single MKA (1 song per mka) in the Chapter Editor. That will get a release tomorrow I hope.

I don't know enough about Roles, hopefully @MrBurns may have an answer?

Apologies, I searched on Aliexpress last night but found most the SATA 8TB 2.5 SSDs looked like fakes. Take a look. Don't search for HDDs, I saw 2.5" SATA SSDs with *TB. These are available outside China by reputable brands but are made from Unafordium :) $$$$$$

They also sell external USB SSDs with ridiculously high capacity 128TB!! I don't believe that at all! Buyer beware.

No, there isn't an Orchestra tag. For FLAC files, the ORCHESTRA should be part of the PERFORMER tag. Internally, in the file it will be something like "Orchestra;BBC Philharmonic Orchestra".

This is a screenshot from picard, showing the performers and roles that will be added to the performer tag when the file is saved.
