For some time now I have been keeping a list of re-issued quadraphonic titles.
These include the NEVER BEFORE RELEASED TITLES from the quad era.
The quad era is for the most part 69 to 85, or so I think.

All titles listed are Rock, Pop (wuss rock), Jazz, Blues, Soul, R&B.

I have not compiled a listing of M.O.R. (middle of the road) titles, such as Mystic Moods, Mancini, Montenegro, etc.

Neither have I compiled a listing of Classical titles although many exist as re-issues from the likes of MoFi-Vox, EMI and Pentatone R (Q) R series, and more notable titles from Deutsche Grammophon and Phillips. The DEUTSCHE GRAMMOPHON and PHILLIPS releases are noteworthy as they are NEVER BEFORE RELEASES. I mention this so that perhaps someone who has the listings will post them one day.

Also I have not listed current quad mixes such as Andy Jackson's, Lindsey Buckinham, etc.

These Re-quad quad listings are all DTS CD, SACD, BLU-RAY, DVDA and some are 4.0 or 4.1 or derived from quad for 5.1.

Hopefully my listngs are mostly accurate. I thiught it imperative to share these quad titles for quad collectors or old and new individuals that have quad interests.:D

couple of quickies;

1.) Beck Bogert Appice was also on DTS CD

2.) I'm not 100% sure but I think that EWF Gratitude Surround SACD may be a modern 5.1 remix from multis rather than an unreleased Quad reissue?

Whew !!!!

That was a task and a half !

I hope someone can add any deletions, omissions etc.

And anyone willing to put up the Classical and MOR listings------GO 4 IT.:upthumb

Wow thanks Derek, looking at the list I realise where a large chunk of money has gone, :yikes scarily I'm only missing a few!

Great job FW! Thanks. I hope that your current list will prove to be "incomplete" by this time next year, assuming that AF throws us a few quadraphonic bones.

Your correct of course, how could I miss that dts cd of BBA.
Gratitude, I wasn't too certain with. Actually when someone on QQ mentioned some CBS/SONY sacds were from quad I was sceptical as I have Toys in the Attic and no FN way is that one quad.I have the quad lp and the sacd is completely different in mix, better takes from multis.
But then I got much more convinced when I heard Blow By Blow.Anyway I thought that was one mentioned back when so I listed it.
It's also possible,

JANIS JOPLIN-CHEAP THRILLS is one but someone who has a R-R copy to compare will have to chime in.

There may be other Grateful Dead concerts as well but only those two I own. And I forgot to mention both DEAD listings are in Blu-ray as well.

This was a very tasking task as I did not have "my listings" which I was referencing in Alphabetical order so I was paging manually through my notes to try and keep some order. Additionally I did not have format indicated, so that was from memory.
And it was scary as QQ timed me out when I posted the second half of the listings. When that occurs I can lose some listngs when I try and restore from my tablet, luckily I lost only the last word-WHEW !!!!
And my tablet battery was dying!!!
So I tried hard to be as accurate as possible and hopefully I got the majority correct.

My head was just swimming afterwards but I think it's all worth it.

A very valuable QUAD listing for anyone interested.

And I think there are a few more, perhaps.

Thanks for your patience,

Johnny Mathis - The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face (dts cd)

Nope, that's an M.O.R.title. There are quite a few, actually ,good buddy.:D

If you have the inclination .....Please feel free to provide the MOR listings. You keep good listings such as "Unsung heroes",
so go for it I say. :upthumb

I hope so too.!

I would assume there would be a number of RE-QUADS to come from the likes of A.F. A.P.P. SONY JAPAN etc.

Toys In The Attic & Cheap Thrills Surround SACDs both different from their respective Quads afaik.

also, the Mike Oldfield DVD-V's of Tubular B's, Ommadawn, Hergest & Incantations are new 5.1 remixes, only the Hybrid MCh SACD of Tubular B's is the Quad.

There's actually another "Format" source I have forgotten.

The legal quad downloads. One title I know of, and do not have is:

Synergy-Electronic Realizations For Rock Orchestra

I wonder if there are others ?

Toys In The Attic was never a consideration as my post on the CBS/SONY'S indicate.

There is some "ambiguity" with the Oldfield DVD'S however. The liner notes discuss his quad releases, so I included them. They may very well be new mixes from multi's other than 4ch tapes.

oh right.. well the Ommadawn SQ LP pans out nothing like the 5.1 DVD-V, fwiw

Thanks for this list.
It's amazing how much vintage quad has come out lately between Audio Fidelity, Chicago Quadio, PF box, etc.

...some are 4.0 or 4.1 or derived from quad for 5.1...

I'm afraid I'm unclear on the criteria for inclusion on a few of these.
Don't get me wrong, it's your list, I don't want to nitpick.
To be fair, some of the origins are murky.

The one that stands out to me is Super Session.
Al Kooper wrote fascinating liner notes about re-mixing it from the original multitracks to 5.1.
Lots center channel signal.
IMHO, that puts it in the same category as, say, Idlewild South or Stand Up, which you did not list.

The Beach Boys, well, your prerogative...

Cheers.

I have to agree. (y)

And that's why I added that little caveat under the titles. But not certain about "Incantations" could be derived from quad or not.
Also it isn't well known but Tubular Bells had two different quad mixes, Ommadawn may have two as well but that one I'm not sure of.

This is in no way an indictment to you or any one in particular Adam, but>>>>
It's strange but I wonder how one can be totally certain (or totally not certain )that some 5.1 mixes as I have listed, were not mixed into 5.1 from a quad source tape. It is easier to remix from something in surround to achieve another surround mix, the work is almost done for your new mix ? Indication from the engineer/s on the new mix are pivotal I figure.
Oh well just a thought. The lists are not PERFECT in any way, but they are as close as I could establish.
Thanks much for your input.

I apologize for confusion or discrepancies of course.:D
