Like many here I would really like the Quadio releases to include The Eagles albums. Meanwhile The Eagles have announced a 10 day residency in the UK at a new arena in Manchester. The 'support', well co-headliner, is Steely Dan so a not-to-be-missed gig. Well...not to be missed if you don't mind paying £442 for a ticket in the front block or add £11 for an aisle seat. Now, this is the standard face value of the ticket not a resale price and it's for any seat in the front blocks back to row 21. The premium seats are a lot more!

I love both bands a great deal but with travel, hotel, meals etc. I cannot remotely contemplate paying over £1200 ($1500) for one gig plus two days to travel there and back. I saw them in Leeds on their "History of" tour and the tickets were around £70. I know there's been world inflation since but......😕

My conclusion therefore is that I think that, should they be released, The Eagles quad albums may not fall into the Quadio price point - however much I wish they would.

Good selection, but I would prefer these albums in a newly mixed quad version, as was mentioned as being a distinct possibility .
I think that is what I said. One mixes for 5.1, and a strong quad later with the center channel of the 5.1 placed in both L&R fronts of the quad. So it is basically the same mix on both layers but conformed for each speaker layout.

There are cases when a completely “different” mix of an album can appear on another label from that which issued the original album, and it legally is a different master (especially if the song publisher is game). Like the Paranoid quadraphonic mix is owned and released by Warner music exclusively, and not by an other label, not legally anyway, it’s a different animal.

So Rod Stewart signing with Warner Bros. in the mid 70s, and having a quad mix done of the Smiler album for a potential new release could (potentially) fly as a Warner Music / Rhino release, so long as the (Mercury) stereo mix was either not included on the Quadio disc, or it was cleared by UMG before being included and released with the quad mix.

This would require some legal red tape and cooperation between the labels, but Rhino has pulled off some cross-licensing miracles in the past that I can recall clearly.

But since the Atlantic Crossing album is free and clear so far as a Warner album goes, they really need not bother with the Smiler title anytime soon, if Rod actually was being considered for a Quadio release.

Just for information sake , Rod Stewart should possibly have ....
Mercury's 'Smiler' !!
In quad , as was announced in Billboard, as Rod's first quad album .
However it would be with Universal, though.

I most certainly would like very much , any of Rod's 70 's albums in quad including those with 'The Faces'. With the Faces it would have to be a newly minted quad , as I had Steve check this possibility as well.

THE JAMES GANG
Like Fredblue sez: "RHINO, BRING ON THE BIG GUNS!"
What a great album cover alone, gotta have it!!

As per @ForagingRhino....Rhino Records WEA the following are 'unreleased quad' titles they have ;

Joni Mitchell-Miles Of Aisles
J.Geils Band -Bloodshot
James Taylor-In The Pocket
Foghat -Energized
Dionne Warwick-Track Of The Cat
Rod Stewart-Atlantic Crossing

That's it...Six all told.

(maybe , just maybe , and additional title might be located)

Just making sure I understand, are you saying that the next batch of 4 can only be from this list?

Well for my tastes I wouldn't mind some of the European WEA quad master pieces.

Passport -Handmade
Deaf School -Second Honeymoon
Absolute Elsewhere-In Search of Gods(w/Bill Bruford)

To a lesser extent:

Fats Domino - Live Montreux, Josephine
Ralph McTell -Right Side Up

Of the unreleased bunch , in priority order ;

Rod Stewart- Atlantic Crossing
Joni Mitchell - Miles Of Aisles
Foghat - Energized
James Taylor - In The Pocket
J Geils Band - Bloodshot
Dionne Warwick-Track Of The Cat

And..Billy Cobham -Spectrum

Other than those , the regular quads should at least include one or more of these ;

Joni Mitchell-Court And Spark , or and , Hissing Of Summer Lawns
Jackson Browne -Late For The Sky
James Gang -Miami
James Taylor -Gorilla
New Seekers -Best
Carly Simon -Any of the FIVE
Foghat would re-energize my excitement for the Quadio releases.
