Yes and every album DV does is about licensing, true.

Rhino encounter this much less to the point of it mostly being a non-issue, i imagine but i'm guessing for DV it could be a veritable nightmare for some titles, perhaps that Gil Evans Hendrix Quad is problematic in some way!?

The closest you'll come at present is this fantastic LOVE Forever Changes LIVE album which was recorded in 2003 @ The Royal Festival Hall....CD/DVD~V in DD 5.1. The video is SD [standard definition] but the audio is spectacular for DD but hardly discrete

Man… Love’s Forever Changes would be incredible. But there wasn’t any 5.1 or surround included with Rhino’s super deluxe a few years back. Just advanced resolution stereo on a DVD.

I just thought I might interject here for information sake....
Is anyone else aware that Gil Evans has 3 quadraphonic recordings .
The 3rd is a duet on Sony Records..Satin Doll with Kimiko Kasai , SQ quad album.

IMO, it would be a real coup if RHINO could obtain those Jim Croce QUAD masters from his widow, Ingrid! She penned a book about her late husband ["I Got A Name"] alleging his former record company literally screwed him out of millions of dollars in royalties! She has since remarried and is living in San Diego, California!

So I heard but if she could be convinced that surround has made a significant comeback, most especially with ATMOS and a lucrative deal is brokered perhaps she'll change her 'tune!'

Those albums were extremely well recorded and well deserve a second chance!

TIME HEALS ALL ....and IMO, those Croce QUADS would sell like proverbial hotcakes!

The catalog left ABC sometime in the 70s, long before MCA took it over. So they are probably safe.

There are the Atmos mixes of his album streaming, but those almost certainly have to be upmixes. They are very weak. But presuming she had to at least ok those being done, perhaps she’s changed her mind about the quads.

Croce Quadios would ALMOST excite me as much as the BS Paranoid disc. It would definitely be my second favorite of any that have come out in the first four batches.

Apparently after the Sony/BMG merger, Bertlesmann launched a NEW company called"BMG Rights Management". They distribute music themselves to streaming, and UMG handles physical copies.

So, round and round it goes!

BMG Rights Management is a separate label, not connected to Sony.

SDE have done a few titles with them, most recently the new Crowded House album.
