What failed with the Aretha quadio? I never heard anything about issues with it.

It really didn't "fail" per se. After it was released, WB Corporate scaled back the Rhino division and one of the things that got cut was the Quadio program. Internet scuttlebutt, including people here at QQ at the time, hypothesized that the Aretha title didn't sell enough and blamed Rhino for not putting out a bigger named title, like the Eagles or Doobies or whatever.

The fact is the Aretha disc is pretty damned awesome and you can blast the crap out of it and it still sounds great. I would venture that somewhere down the road it reappears as a modern Quadio BluRay release as it is worthy.

One more thing folks - Let's try and keep this thread focused on RHINO releases or potential releases. It's not fair to Steve to be talking about artists whose catalogs are controlled by others, or being released by others. They can have their own thread and anyone can start one in another section.

I mean, sure, it's cool to say "Simon & Garfunkel are on Sony" if someone mentions them, but we don't need 20 responses discussing that fact in the Rhino section of the forum.

Just sayin'

Still holding out for ROD - Atlantic crossing, Midler - Devine, Any Joe Walsh, Is Blows Against The Empire on RCA or Grunt, would sound amazing in Dolby Atmos. Best of Carly Simon. How about a boxset of EAGLES like Asylum did for Joni, amazing boxset. Guess never see Volunteers or Worst of Jefferson Airplane. Would have thought they would own their own masters. And BOWIE, A Lad In Sane., : 0 )

Hmm. I’ve always been more of Airplane than Starship fan, so I would love, love, love to see Volunteers and Worst of on disc.

Edit: Sorry Jon. I realized after posting that this not an issue for @ForagingRhino.

The closest you'll come at present is this fantastic LOVE Forever Changes LIVE album which was recorded in 2003 @ The Royal Festival Hall....CD/DVD~V in DD 5.1. The video is SD [standard definition] but the audio is spectacular for DD but hardly discrete

My favorite dvd. I have two. One still unopened. Improves on the original imo.

Usually ego and grumpiness, or some long held grudge.

I guess, but isn't a royalty check more than pocket change?
What I mean, I've been told many times Iam a grumpy old man😂
But in reality Iam always thinking about something I need to do, as I got alot of irons in the fire......so to speak.

But a check in the mail, always cheers me up😁
I even yelled at my longtime mailman (15+yrs) to stop bringing so many bills and start delivering more checks.
**Usually while handing him a cold bottle of water on a hot day**

If they were to do a Carly Quadio box, then it just makes sense that they would need Bruce Botnick back at the mixing board to complete a stunning new quad mix of the Anticipation album so that they have all of the early albums covered. Just like Joni needed that one album completed, Carly would require the same, fair is fair right.
I guess that would be playing ketchup?

I do agree that people need to move on from a Rhino produced Quad released of Croce's music, but his Saja Records releases were done under WEA.

Duh...I should have known this. The one Croce CD I have -- the "50th Anniversary Collection" is a Saja/WEA title. 🤦‍♂️

But I guess pretty much everyone has had their shot at his catalog. I'm sure there have been worse cases, but man...Ingrid has certainly managed to milk those 3 ABC LPs/34 tracks for all they were worth over the past 50 years...

I have the R2R, and I created a 5.1 upmix of it that turned out great. I like the original R2R quad mix too , but a Blu-ray will always sound better than a ripped R2R.
Not familiar with the term "R2R" what is the meaning ?
