My gut says you have a breach of those cards elsewhere, paypal doesn't exchange credit card info as previously explained. It would be literally impossible for an intermediary with SDE or Shopify access to view the paypal credit card data. That's why no paypal users are being affected, you would also be literally the only one which again points to another source for your woes.
Didn't use PayPal till this purchase the other day. My debit card this time was safe but evidently my name etc right after this recent purchase from SDE activated someone trying to use the old card.

They could have just been trying, again in your case it doesn't match everyone else's cause/effect. If you need to pin it on someone/something, just blame me. But don't blame paypal in this instance.

Absolutely not.Just too coincidental that the timing was within an hour or so after placing my Diamonds order on SDE sight. Last one was same about 2 months ago...within an hour or so after placing my last order

Again (again, again, again) you're looking to pin it on them. You can accuse anyone of anything you want, but there need to be direct correlation. "Too coincidental" isn't really enough. The clear pattern that emerged from this thread is paypal fine, direct payment with SDE problematic. Not only are you an outlier, your 'story' doesn't really add up considering how things work.

So please, just blame me. I'll send you my contact info to forward to the police privately upon request. But leave paypal out of it.

[I realize this is a vain attempt at trying to let you sleep well tonight, but I have this stupid hope in humanity that if offered proper phrasing of words people can be reasoned with]

Not even worth a reply. Leave it at that.

If you read my post I agreed that PayPal seemed quite safe. Maybe you are Stoopid

But you replied!

BTW, I think the confusion is how you chose to tell your story. From re-reading what you posted, you:

1) Used a different card prior (direct payment to SDE and/or Shopify), but ...
2) This time used Paypal.
3) Logging into SDE for the recent purchase seemed to trigger use of the old/cancelled card, even though you used Paypal this time.

THIS version (if I'm actually interpreting the order of events correctly) would fall in line with the prior reports of SDE payment specific issues leading to fraudulent charges.

Better? Are we best buds again?

Your conception of how "hacking" works isn't correct at all. And name-calling is a quick way to either a temporary or permanent ban, so I suggest you govern yourself accordingly.

It's blame stoopid day, I'm sure if I was in his shoes and I came along with the incorrect interpretation I had I would be frustrated too.

I've just been reading this thread with interest. My credit card has been hacked twice in the last 6 months. I've been going through where this might have come from. I have up to date protection on all my devices. I have placed a lot of orders with SDE this year, I always use a credit card, rather than Paypal. Coincidence  . I'm not sure now. Do I risk ordering the new Ferry, I'm not sure now.
