If anyone is thinking of purchasing this in either DVD-A or BD, I'd wait until the problems are fixed. I need to decide whether to return this disc to Amazon or wait out a fix that is "probably not going to be a 'quick fix'".

There's a process in place for getting fixed discs when they are done, from Universal at no cost to us as consumers. Would I wait or buy? Well, some people waited after the J Tull Thick as a Brick defect and still got the wrong discs from sellers. If I saw the set at a decent price from a *reputable* dealer then I'd go ahead and buy and follow the simple instructions from Universal for getting the fix - I already got an email from them saying they'll send the fix as soon as it's done, and in the meantime I can play the other discs.

Ya know, I post over at SHF too and have followed the thread there about this set and it irks me somewhat when some people there post derogatory comments about the mix(es) after it's been acknowledged that there was a mess-up somewhere in the pipeline and that what we got was not what was intended. FFS - if you have gripes about what SW did then that's fine and your opinion, but when you know what you have is *not* what he intended then keep your mouth shut until you know you are talking about the proper disc! Sheesh, seems so obvious but I suppose that's expecting a lot from some. But then, the number of posts there that don't know "remaster" from "remix" tells me something too, and from a lot that like to call themselves "audiophiles."

It's a joke. Those people talk big but would never do so to the target's face. When these guys walk up to Steven Wilson and tell him directly that his mixes suck and they'll never buy another SW mixed disc, then they'll have cred. Until they do, they are just whiners and complainers.

There are many levels of QC for these discs. They're very complex, and there is always a chance that errors will be made AFTER something is checked and double-checked. The final product has a chance to come out screwed up even after the engineer, the artists, the testers, and the mastering engineer sign off on the project.

Unless an actual retail production run disc is tested, verified, and sent through the entire approval process before any hit the streets, there is no way to absolutely guaranty a perfect disc. 99.5% of the time, the tested material comes out correct.

When a problem happens, a legit label will respond accordingly. If they did not, yet acknowledged the error, then there would be time for bitching and moaning.

Attacking any one part in the chain of production when the source of the error is unknown is pretty damn stupid. EVERY manufacturer of disc with multichannel music can make a mistake. Every manufacturer.

I burned all the Compact Discs in the Deluxe Box to my local storage. Surprisingly, other than the time code, there isn't any meta information on discs 3 & 4. Also, I had to correct some of the information on Discs 1 & 2.

I've uploaded Discs 3 & 4 to the DR Database. At least, the values on these two Live & Radio Session discs are fairly good.

Anyway, for what it's worth and if anyone is interested, I ran the DR Value on the 5.1 tracks off the DVD.

Here is the Two-Channel DR Value off the same DVD. Once we get the corrected discs, neither of these two DR Values I Posted should change. :)

Help is on the way for this release, that is great news. It's a bump in the road but given that Sparkle In The Rain can be made even better, is something we look forward to!

Because this thread required some moderation to restore some semblance of coherence and brotherhood, I decided it was time to comment on the current state, but not here. Instead, here is a blog post that I created. Cheers
