Well Update from The Universal Guy that SNood was emailing..........see email copies above and also email addresses

Well here is the email address that me originally sent an mail to [email protected] , but they forwarded to the record guy named Steve - let me know if ya want Steve's addy - it's the guy's actual company email with his last name @ umusic.com....don't feel comfy putting it in public forums

So PM Snood if ya need it

Early this morning he sent email asking that Snood just send him My Name and address and he would get the Disc out to me as soon as they are ready. Wow

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice

Now just playing the waiting game :bounce

Someone Posted the DR Value for CD 1. Not looking too good. I still have not opened my box so I can check and will so this weekend. Unless, someone beats me to it. :)

I am still waiting on my copy, surprised you haven't opened yours yet as as soon as I get mine its going to be a open right away thing and listen ASAP as am way to curious how this was done and after reading some others trashing this mix well that ramps up the curious factor even more.
If you want to send your copy up the coast some 1000 miles I would be happy to open up your copy for you :)

I will have no time to listen until this weekend. I like to listen and look at everything at the same time. Plus, I want to listen to all three of my Simple Minds DVD-A mixes on the same day. Good things come to those who wait...patiently. :)

afaik CD1 is pretty much the old remastered (Simon Heyworth? 2003/4?) CD.. so if that one didn't float your boat..

And, here I assumed it was a new remaster. The sticker on the box does state 4 CD's newly re-mastered. So, it must have been tweaked differently somehow and in someway. Or, are they lying to us? :yikes LOL

Haha.. it's been remastered apparently yeah.. tweaked more than likely but who cares, the Steven Wilson surround mixes are the main event with these things (all the other craps incidental and a means to an end as far as I'm concerned.. I'd rather the industry went back to standalone surround releases but that's never going to happen).. plus I'm pretty played out with the album now anyway, I've heard it like 6,437(*) times in the last little while..

(* rough estimate only :D ).

Hmmm.. Regarding the vocals, I must say that they (IMHO) do seem a bit "distant", more noticeable than Tears for Fears, and yes my system is calibrated correctly. Even worse when running in 4.1 (with Phantom center, but also in full 5.1.

Thanks Snood. I just e-mailed them and got the reply from Steve stating that they'd send out the replacement discs as soon as they're ready too.

Same here, the vocals seem very distant and some of the tracks sound as though they were recorded in a cavern somewhere (not helped by the overwhelming drums). I prefer the vocals and the generally warmer sound on the PCM stereo track.

I remember when this album first came out (my introduction to the band was "New Gold Dream"). I purchased every (3) 12 inch single that was released. I loved the extended mixes and recorded them onto cassette and played them over and over and over again on my headphones via my Walkman. Eventually, I did get tired of Waterfront and to this day, I feel it's sort of boring. In retrospect, I love the whole album apart from the Lou Reed song. It seems out-of-place on the record. Though, they did an excellent job making his song their own but it should have been a "B" side. Apart from "Street Hassle", I liked the second side almost as much as the first and didn't feel it was weak at all. If they removed "Street Hassle", added another song and rearranged the tracks differently, the album may have flowed better.

If you haven't got it already the old Nimbus CDV is worth checking out..

While listening to the DVD-A of a "New Gold Dream", I opened my Deluxe Box. The contents inside is great! It contains a good sized booklet and a nice glossy photo book. It took me a great deal of strength in removing the DVD from it's cardboard container. I snapped a photo of the face, or label, and as you can see, has the DTS-HD Master Audio logo. Now, I'm really excited to hear it...LOL!

I'm getting ready to listen to it now. :)
