We assume that when the menu is displayed on your TV, you've chosen Quad, but you only hear two LR speakers or more than four correct?
Yes. The Quadio layer on the disc plays at a low speed, but the stereo layer plays just fine. I hear all the speakers on the Quadio even if it is slow. I'm not yet at a point where I'll just get another copy and see if I had a bad one. New TVs seem to be turning to having their own external speaker systems, so using the tv as a menu may be causing issues. . . .

My Marantz 6300 finally has played it's last piece of vinyl as it has lost control of the platter speed. With nothing to lose, I opened it up and took a visual inspection. No leaking or swollen caps, no burned or blacken areas.. I watched a few Youtube videos on refurb and service, but thats over my pay grade. I did pull the spindle out of the motor and cleaned the well with a q-tip-and alcohol, put 2 drops of oil in and wiped down the spindle with an oily towel. All the solenoids work okay.
So my question to the resident experts, what is a fair price to have the Marantz serviced by a shop, labor wise. Of course parts would be extra I've reached out to a couple if they will service/refurbish the Marantz.........waiting on replies

Our block gets slammed pretty good. Of course, all I care about is seeing my grandkids. lol

Ive been in my house 22 yrs now and it's never the same size crowds. One year none, the next year maybe 40-50 kids. Last year was the largest crowd by far. But I noticed a car following the large groups, as if they are trucked in. Iam prepared for a 60-70 kid night and if the crowds don't come thru, all my candy is going in the garbage. Cuz you know who, will be snacking on it otherwise

I had to scare the neighborhood kids away when I was teaching -- they'd come to my door at all hours, in groups, wanting to "talk," as they had seen me in the halls (this was non-Halloween, btw). I finally blew up and yelled "I'll have to report you at school if you keep coming!" (and I did -- informal teacher-student contact is obviously problematic). Now they avoid me, which is only disappointing at Halloween. I still buy candy in small amounts (that I like to eat) on the off-chance a new kid in the neighborhood unfamiliar to me appears.
