Glad to finally purchase another quadio set, first one since the original set last year. Although I did sub Doobie Brothers for Charles Mingus, love that we can mix and match any four to get the discount.
Looks like you'll be able to assemble your own 4-bundle packs from here on out with each new bundle - buying just your selected faves.

Arrived at my friends house today in Monrovia CA , should be with me here in sunny Crete early November ..:)

Awesome! Crete is a very interesting place, and I've been there several times.

My DRAGON FLY arrived today, so I'm about to take off to other places :smokin
WTF!!!

Mine is playing about 1/4 the speed??? What the hell is going on?

[Update: the stereo DTS plays just fine -- it's the Quadio DTS that is very slow. Odd. My other Quadios play DTS Quadio, but I suspect it is a DTS issue with my tv that I use for a menu. Rats. Why is this one different?]

Well he does have one more in the vault, primarily 'Sail Away' and that disc I'm looking forward to a Quadio release.

Now In the Atmos camp , or should an interested engineer who wants to try out their quad mix skills ............please consider one of the Little Feat's 70's albums.
Now that would indeed be a worthy Feat.
Okay, NPR answers fizzy with a double-header:
  • Fresh Air's music reviewer Ken Tucker likes the Randy Newman bio better than Dwight Garner does. (Sort of. He respects the effort, anyway, if not the prose.) Plus, since it's a radio review, you get to hear a lot of Randy Newman in the course of its eight minutes.

  • Little Feat performs songs from their new album Sam's Place (no Atmos mix!) on World Cafe:

Ordered Foghat, J. Geils "Bloodshot" and Jefferson Starship "Dragonfly" plus Carly Simon, War and Van Morrison Moondance BR. With the 15% code and free shipping it came out to be $20 a disc. Sometimes it pays to hold off buying every title upon release. ;)

Don't quite get those who downplay the J Geils Band......3 songs on Bloodshot were in regular rotation East of the Mississippi at least, what is not Rock about them? I think they are brilliant, just an opinion, heard them though out college years. Not quite sure what quads that have not been released that folks are looking for? Folks seem to pine for heavy metal... which quads would those be?

J Geils Band's Bloodshot is an excellent album. I think it's great luck that an unissued quad from this band would be this title.
Two songs from this quad mix have imo that overuse of reverb to - I guess create space. We've seen this before. The other tracks on the album in quad are pretty outstanding I think. I rate this is as stronger album than Nightmares is.
8.75 or 9.0. Oh I forget this ain't the spotlight polls.

I was surprised when I heard non-joyous talk about "Bloodshot". I thought it was damned impressive, and I was not familiar with the album at all. Never owned it. Sort of remembered a tune or two from radio's on in the background over the years, but right from the first track I thought it was great quad and great guitar stuff. I was beginning to doubt myself here. I prefer it over the "Foghat", but again, it's personal taste at play.

Either way, getting TWO UNRELEASED QUADS!! You have to admire what ForagingRhino has accomplished here. This stuff does not happen without 'one of us' in charge, and we are so lucky to have him in there as he loves this stuff as much as we do.

I had the red vinyl press of that album in college. I wore it out! At least 3 gotta have tracks for sure!

I am a big Foghat fan, but would have to say Energized has never been my favorite album by them. However, "Step Outside" and "Home In My Hand" are standout cuts on this album IMO. I would rather have R'N' R Outlaws or Fool For The City in surround/quad if I had the option. (Always liked Boogie Motel too, but it came out in '79 after the quad era.)
My copy of Energized hasn't arrived yet. I'll rate it later.

Either me or my brother had this Foghat title on 8-track back in the day, but I know I got rid of it at some point and it was pretty forgettable. As a graphic artist, I was more interested in the cover and the text that makes out their logo so I remember that. Looking forward to listening to it as quad. Maybe it will all come back.
