Surround mix is lively. Audio fidelity is very good. This is my first listen to most of the songs--which are very good. But I instantly recognized "Games People Play" and really enjoyed it. Packaging is consistent with previous QUADIO releases. Rated 9.

I voted 10.
If you like quad in a discrete mix, well this is the one, pure discrete. Super well balanced vocals up front but instruments all over in a fantastic way. From Detroit but in my mind they sure captured that Philly sound. Confusing as sometimes listed as The Spinners and other times Spinners, I'm sticking with Spinners.
Pick Of The Litter has great songs, but nothing creatively different from there usual formula.
Blu Ray rip-FLAC file-4.0 DTS HD Mstr-24bit/192Khz-DR's are 12's, 13's, 14.

Surround mix and audio fidelity are excellent. The musicianship and song quality are ok, enjoyable, but nothing truly outstanding. I can't imagine I'll listen to it again. 7 for me.

The fidelity on this recording is very good, and the quad mix is nice and full. Unfortunately, I'm not really digging the album. I'm a big fan of early 70s R&B but by the time of this album, their sound was starting to get dated and outside of the lone hit "Games People Play", there's not a lot of tracks here I'm jonesing to go back to. IF you already love this album, it's probably a "10". If you're just 'meh' on it like me? Not so much. The earlier "Spinners" album was much better, IMO. Maybe after a couple of more spins, I'll revise my vote. In the meantime, this is a "7".

I love the warm rich sound of this disc, and I enjoy ensemble R&B vocals of this quality. It's just a perfect sounding disc.
The songs are not exactly full of hooks, for me.
The big hit here is the best thing on it imo. I'd better listen to this a few times before rating it. But I am thinking it's a step down from their "Spinners" album song wise.

If I'm not mistaken, the album was recorded in Philly and MFSB, (famous for the song TSOP AKA "The Sound of Philadelphia ") performs on the album. So that's why it sound so Philly! 🙂

I still remember picking up the CD-4 LP from the local customs office. At that time combined duty and tax on purchases from the U.S. amounted to something like 30%. Sadly we seem to be heading back to those days. I remember it so well as the customs office opened the package in front of me. Anyway I was not particularly a Spinners fan but quad was becoming more and more scarce so I was starting to purchase a few items that I wouldn't have otherwise.

Fast forward, several years ago I was able to get CD-4 to work half decently and so made a very good sounding digital copy of the LP. As to be expected the Quadio audio exceeds the CD-4 by a wide margin.

The mix is great. The hit "Games People Play" is one of those song that I would consider to be just another generic AM radio hit. Listening to it now it does spark a bit of nostalgia, making me think of other songs that were on the radio at that same time. The quad treatment does add a lot compared to listening to it in mono on the radio.
