Jaw Drop! This 2 LP 45 rpm release sounds mind-blowingly WONDERFUL! I first read about it on MIKE's PICKS

Stan Getz / João Gilberto Featuring Antonio Carlos Jobim - Getz / Gilberto

Clement, those are two of the most iconic jazz albums. Had the chance to catch Getz live in 80's, and Brubeck in the 90's.

Bought my first copy of that Getz record in 3rd grade when it was on the charts! Rebought it on an Early German CD, and again on SACD.

My first copy of that Brubeck was in '70's. Rebought that on Japan CD, multi SACD, 2 CD expanded and UK 🇬🇧 2CD 2ch & mono mixes.

Both essential albums!

After Dsotm I paid tribute to Syd by spinning this.

I feel bad for the session musicians, must have been hell trying to play along to Syd's tracks. The mixes are terrible though: this would be screaming for a decent remix if the multitracks are around. The backing tracks sound like they're being played on a crappy cassette deck, in the washroom of an apartment next door!

I like Syd's unaccompanied pieces much better.

"Dark Globe" sounds like something that we'd hear on a new Roger Waters album. "...wouldn't you miss me at all??" Sounds just like Rog, the way he sings it.

"Spinning" a slab that I "inherited" back in High School...funny that I would up with a few LPs that their owners did not care for...happy ending cause they ended up on a home where they got the love they deserved...this one is a FIRST pressing and it sounds FRESHHHHHHHHHHH....also curious that I DID buy the 45 for "and the cradle will rock" before this one came to me...it even had the Helmut Newton poster...KIN-KYYYYY (to quote HEDLEY Lamarr)...was not a big fan of this one but they one upped me when I saw them in Philly in Fall 82 and started their set with "Romeo's Delight"!!!
everybody DEFINITELY wants some!!!

I LOVE THAT ALBUM!!! Man, I used to simply crush that in my 1972 Cutlas 442........

Started on the third gig of this boxset, Duke University..
got mixed feelings regarding it, the QC is virtually nil... I should have investigated that these "Made in Canada" is basically the Canadian plant for GZ (Checz) which is quite bad , especially QC wise, the ONLY perfect LP I got from them was from 2009 and it was U2's "The unforgettable fire" which I am guessing that it was courtesy of The Edge's TLC that it was a great set...from experience, the French MPO plants are much better..
The funny part is that, being translucent vinyl you can see any defects and they LOOK almost perfect...playing them is something else, VERY crackly, maybe it needs to be played several times to "clean the grooves"...
Sound wise, they sound like they were sourced from the CDs; not a lot of "improvement" soundwise(more hi frequency info than the CD counterpart)...
I mean, they ARE very purty and could be deemed as an "INVESTMENT", hopefully they will gain value as time goes by.. we shall see...

Been trying to find this album for a few months: for a while I deliberately scrambled all my records, so I'd listen to stuff I might not otherwise. But it's a pain in the ass if you're actually looking for something!
Record collection not in order? I may have to lie down to recover from reading those words! (Actually, mine is in a bit of an unintentional mess.)

Nice idea to play at random, but keep them in alpha order and just use a random number generator to pick an album for you! That way, you have the best of both worlds. (I know you probably have too many to actually number them, but you could, for example, measure the shelf space and then ask Siri/ Google/ Alexa to pick a number within the range, so you pick the album that is, say, 372mm in.)
