I like Subotnick, having bought three Quads. I need to be in the mood for him.

Again, I don’t know if you would call it “music,” because it’s certainly outside your standard listening experience. I hope you enjoy it.

Oh yeah, I can boogie to that. Heck, I did a duet with an air conditioner once :p

Thx for the link. And I was spelling his name wrong, oof! Saw it written in the quote & assumed it was right.

well, I found this rarity...too bad that the USA pressing is basically horrible ...
Dominican singer/comedian(great one at that too! her "Mosquita Muerta" was hilarious) Charytín Goyco apparently recorded a Camilo Sesto LP,, I say it this way because all songs were written and the LP was produced and arranged by Camilo himself, and recorded in Madrid in 1985- and it's pretty funny cause she credits him using both of Camilo's last name (Blanes/Sesto) sayingg that it's "¡el mismo!"...curiously , it's her only album released on RCA records and it's a pity it's such a crappy pressing with small pieces of paper on the slab because by the mid 80s RCA was issuing some quality pressings on translucent vinyl...well, not here... oh well... it's quite a curio...

Kap, there was a '67 companion Rock sampler LP to your post. Got them each sealed back in the day for 69 cents. Thanks to this sampler, I ran out and bought my all-time fave LP: Moby Grape (1). 8:05 is featured here. Features their three guitar plus bass attack. Peter Lewis wrote, sings and fingerpicks on it.

Some other better known artists & tracks by Simon & Garfunkel, Byrds, Paul Revere, Buckinghams & more. YOU NEED THIS!!

Love it!
¡Muchas gracias Mamita Linda!

well, "breaking in" my new Shibata stylus, which I can honestly say , it SOUNDS REALLY F*CKING GREAT! I do pride myself in having a good ear and this sounds better than the OM10, or the AT3003 or even the other "shibata" stylus I exchanged for this one...---I really don't believe stylii NEED "breaking in", but , hey, it sounds like a "Pro", LOL! Kinda like Seal saying the other night "a brother from another mother...sounds corny, doesn't it?"

...and , yes, the Steve Perry LP sounded MUCH better with the new one...almost no sibilance , so yeah, a pressing/mastering issue

I'm downstairs spinning on the new deck. Classic live album with a sober Zevon belting it out. Miss him. Gone way too soon.

An all time favorite of mine.

My wife-to-be and I went to one of the shows of the 5-night stand at the Roxy on which this album is based (August 1980, just before the start of our senior year in college). The Roxy was a tiny place, maybe room for a few hundred (or less). Seating at tables/booths with a 2–drink minimum, plus IIRC an adjacent small seating area with rows of seats. Fantastic experience. Loud. Along with many of our friends we had fallen in love with Zevon from his self-titled album, and then Excitable Boy. Bad Luck Streak in Dancing school was released during the school year prior to this concert, and had the misfortune of coming out during a legendary period of bad vinyl - literally, bad vinyl, that resulted in disks with a lot of noise. A friend returned at least 2 copies of BLSiDS because of it.

...and now, cleansing my palate with good ole' Wolfie , a GORGEOUS (yes, another Salvation Army miracle) DG pressing and spectacular recording of his Piano Concertos no. 23 and 24.

A pressing from 1964 which is immaculate...

I LOVE those "Old Fashioned" DG beautiful labels:

and now, another anecdote... I am married to a woman who is basically a genius when it comes to identifying especially piano concertos (she used to date a classical pianist who taught her the ropes...he passed away quite young, though)... I mean, the woman is a MACHINE!, I am playing this and even though I have NOT played this EVER before nor have told her who it was, she just walked past a few minutes ago and went: "oh, Mozart, nice!" ...didn't even FLINCH!... and these are not some of the most popular Piano Concertos!!! ..she cracks me up!

Kap, congrats on your new Shibata tip. One of the first qualifying questions I'd ask any customer buying a TT: "what % of the time do you listen to vinyl?" ALL of your vinyl you're listening to your cartridge. I've been using Shibata and fine line for 49 years. AT & Ortofon. Works and sounds better than elliptical, all else being equal. Less record wear and better contact. Even for 2ch & matrix.

There's a variety of issues that come into play like compliance and compatibility w/your tonearm & cartridge. You can rediscover all your vinyl!
