1- California Soul was written by Nicholas Ashford (RIP) & Valerie Simpson. Very nice Marlena Shaw version!
5th Dimension had a minor hit hit in '68 One of my fave 5D tracks:
Marvin & Tammy also had a minor hit in '70, their last released single before Tammy's untimely death:
Brazilian band Tamba 4's California Soul album was released for the first time on LP only for Record Store Day '19. It was recorded in '68 and slated for '69 release by A&M/CTI, which was cancelled. One of my least favorite tracks of theirs, California Soul:
Samba Blim, one of their better released tracks:
2- Sun Kil Moon:

This is not my Dinner 12+ minutes:
3- Byrds mono: I haven't noticed any differences on the takes or versions, just different mixes. I bought each one on 2ch vinyl, CD & expanded CD.
I also bought these mono versions:
Mr. Tambourine Man MoFi SACD (2ch bonus tracks)
Turn, Turn, Turn Sundazed LP
5D Sundazed LP
Younger than Yesterday Sundazed LP & AF Gold CD
Notorious Byrd Bros. (foldover) MoFi SACD (2ch bonus tracks)
4- Moby Grape gets heavy rotation. I bet I've not played that LP more than 6 times. Heard all the songs hundreds (thousands?) of times.
5- I'm not aware of CD releases of several early Liona Boyd Canadian records. I found them all sealed in a record store in Bermuda in the early 90's.
