Not sure what you mean about Technics.
Sorry that's what happens sometimes when I mention two things in one post. Post 1292 I mentioned also looking at a Technics that looks similar to the Pioneer but it costs 3 grand.

Glad to hear your PLX-500 has some heft to it. (I think that's what you have, there's also the PLX-1000).

Been playing them since my first 1 gram tracking cartridge too, a Shure V15, which I broke off the cantilever, pled my case to Shure Brothers and they kindly sent a new V15-II, free. My aunt has something to do with it too. Went to see her up in Connecticut when I was 8, and she had an RCA mono console. I promptly picked up a 45 (think it was Black Denim Trousers and Motorcycle Boots) with my grubby little fingers all over it and she yells DON"T TOUCH THE GROOVES! I learned that lesson early. And, anyone I let handle my records got a lesson how to do it first.
When I sold my vinyl about five years ago the record store owner told me there were no complaints on any of them. Over 3,000 lps. I was pretty proud of that as I’m sure you are of yours.

I hate the thought of the local used record, CD, and DVD store which the owner touts as the largest store in the US, getting all my stuff someday when they do a welfare check on me, and find me buried under a mass of LPs! Have taken a few things to that store to get offered pennies on the dollar. Too bad too, it's within a mile of my house. I need to put something about that in my will!

Even when I would take some records to an old girlfriend's apartment, no worry, no wear. Her father had set her up with an Ampex AM-FM reel to reel stereo and matching speakers with the cool walnut veneered cabinet and tambour doors, with a Dual 1019 and a Shure M55E high compliance 1 gram tracking cartridge.

Is that the Pioneer PLX-500 turntable?
I just advised a friend who was looking for a 2nd TT to buy one of those. What do you think of it? It was that or an Audio Technica that looks like they were built in the same factory just different cosmetics. I preferred the black and silver of the Pioneer.

I also looked at a Technics that looks similar... $3 grand! Yikes!
The SL1210GR Technics (not the most expensive!) is excellent, bought one to replace a Rega Planar 3, its better than the Rega which had replaced my broken Technics SL-10 parallel tracker (wish they still did those).

You had one COOL AUNT! LOL!
It was my then evil Stepfather (whom I had to forgive years later, after he died…it’s a long story…) who taught me how to take care of records AND who also got me into QUAD…
I am wondering whether my Technics SL-QL1 has the same tracking mechanism as your Phase Linear TT…Let me check..hmm, could not find the service manual on vinylengine, but IT MAY be more or less like my SL-QL1, so I would suggest that if you want a good, stable LT TT you can find one on fleabay for WAY less than $3K...I got 2 of them and I SERVICED MINE BOTH (which I am quite proud of since I am not a tech, per se)...
and most of your LPs are still in the shrink (like mine are)which I have been told can warp your records..but then you CAN TELL which shrinkwrapping actually WILL warp them...i.e. if they are extremely tight...ain't NOTHIN' like early pressings!!

Heard that for many years. I've pretty much proven that (to myself) wrong. I have albums with over 50 year old shrink on them. Perfectly flat. Helps keep the "minty" in! IMO!

Like playing with the dust cover up, down, or off. Everyone has their way of doing things.

Oh man, a Wally beauty! LOOOVE THE HYPE STICKERS! Maybe one day I’ll get one with the hype stickers…I think I got enough with my tiny poster…and oooo, what a sound!
I was going to ask if it was a Wally. Almost all the Don't Look Backs were Wally, but the first album is out there in a variety of cuts.
